That just don't look right. I seriously don't believe no other candidates had ANY change in 3 weeks.

I keep a similar chart I update weekly. Ron Paul is now tracking at around 10,000 new meetup members a month at this point. I expect to see that grow expotentially as the weeks wear on :D

Stunning!

I just received the latest issue of US News and World Report. It features a series of articles on the presidential candidates. No mention of Ron Paul, and I believe they were claiming the Obama has the biggest presence on the Internet!!!

The mainstream media is terrified of irrelevancy, I say.

Actually, I check all the GOP stats weekly (Fridays) and their growth is stagnant except for Ron Paul's. Occasionally I check the Dems but haven't noticed any patterns of growth there either. I'm not surprised by the chart myself.

That chart is innacurate. Today RP has 20,225
Obama has 5,313
John Edwards has 4,250
Kucinich has 3,905
Hillary has 1,872
Gravel has 216
F. Thomson has 138
Giuliani has 31
Romney has 22
McCain has 3

The USA Presidentail Main page is not updated often so to get the correct numbers you have to click through to the candidates "view all mettup groups" for the coorect statistics.

With that being said, Ron Paul still has a commanding lead in totals and in growth. You have to run a search to get some of these candidates to pop up, as they are not included in the main page.

Sorry, I don't know how to post graphs/pics.

Actually, if you removed Ron Paul from the chart, the growth wouldn't look so stagnant. It only looks that way in comparison. The others are just inching along compared to Ron Paul, but compared with one another the chart would look a lot different from what it does here. It would be the kind of chart the old media would like to see, one where they could make lots of money off the race and have lots of influence over who gets elected, because none of them would really be winning the hearts and minds of the people the way a true leader does.

My data is accurate, however, you and I may be looking at different numbers.
I am counting the number of members "in" Ron Paul groups, which currently as of today is now 16,726 members.

It is possible that you have been looking instead at the sum of the number of members "in" Ron Paul meetup groups plus the number of members "waiting for a" Ron Paul meetup group.

You can double check the current numbers at

http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/pres/

I have been keeping a daily tally for the last 3 weeks.
There has been some growth in the membership of the competitors, but it is so miniscule in comparison to the growth of the Ron Paul membership, that at the scale of the graph, the others look almost like they are completely flat lines....

That is my point. Meetup gives THOSE numbers on the opening page.
If you click on the Link to the candidate a page comes up listing the top groups. Scroll to the bottom and click on a link that says "Or, see all Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Groups."

Ron Paul as of 3:30 Eastern Time on 7/11/07 is at
20,303 Members
3,577 Interested

Thier front page to the presidental race is not kept updated.

By visiting the about pages you get the realtime totals.

Do the math.
Your number is exactly equal to the number of members "in" Ron Paul meetup groups plus the number of members "waiting for" a Ron Paul meetup group.

You are incorrect that the page that I access is not updated. In fact it is updated approximately 3 to 5 times every 24 hours.

The page I use again is:

http://www.meetup.com/topics/polact/cand/pres/

In summary, the numbers I use are the number of members "in" Ron Paul meetup groups, and I do not include those who are "waiting for" a Ron Paul meetup group.

Regardless, we should be near 100,000 meetup members by the end of Q3, meaning if we can get an average donation of $100 per Meetup member, that's $10 million for Q3 which is what Ron Paul has as a "optimistic goal". (He said on This Week with Steponallofus that "wouldn't it be something if he could quadruple his donations" in Q3 like he did in Q2 over Q1.)

Anyway, that is very doable imo, especially considering he will hopefully get some donations from sources other than Meetup members!

That just don't look right. I seriously don't believe no other candidates had ANY change in 3 weeks.

They are seeing nominal changes, but when you have to put an apple and and orangte on the same measurement system, the chart will look like this.

Note that the interval is per thousand because of the enormous growth in Dr. Pauls meetups alone. The others may see a few hundred each week and thus will appear this way.

I could be wrong, but I believe the first (lower number) number is the actual individual members, while the second (higher number) is the total members in groups tagged ron paul. So in the second number, you would have one person counted 10 times if they are in 10 Ron Paul meetups, or 200 Obama supporters if a meetup with 200 obama supporters has added a Ron Paul tag.

Edit: Also we are in 11 countries now.

Is there any way we can send an email or somehow notify those people who are "waiting" for a group of new ones that have formed? What are they waiting for, one more local to them? thx

Just felt like mentioning that the growth is outstanding for organizational efforts too since, there is the added benefit of more "localized" meetup groups. In my area before the sole meetup group for Ron Paul was for a fairly wide area (three cities) now single city meetup groups are popping up, and we're talking about small cities, so thats a great thing.

EX: One event planned for wensday with our local group they had to go back and put a cap on it just in case, to insure there weren't TOO many people at the event.

Great!
