Another one bites the dust:

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Senator_Vitter_admits_number_on_DC_0709.html

First term Senator David Vitter (R-LA) admitted Monday night that his phone number was on the phone records of the so-called "DC Madam."

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," said Vitter in a statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there-with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

According to Vitter, his phone number appeared on the phone records of the escort service Pamela Martin and Associates before he ran for the Senate in 2004.

From 1999 to 2004, Vitter served as a congressman in Louisiana's 1st district. The 46-year-old politico is also the southern regional chair of Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign.

In 2004, Vitter campaigned with a promise of "protecting the sanctity of marriage," and was a co-author of the "Federal Marriage Act" that sought to prohibit courts from interpreting same-sex marriage laws.

"This is a real outrage. The Hollywood left is redefining the most basic institution in human history," he said then.

I often think that there's a certain principle that holds that moral hypocrisy is directly proportional to amount of moral posturing an individual expresses.

One should have respect for those quiet people who lead their lives in honorably forthright manner and never hurl moral condemnations down upon their fellow human beings.

Being a truly good example of morality is much harder than sitting up on a moral high horse: one takes conviction and integrity and the other just requires the money to buy the horse.

This is a non-issue to the Giuliani campaign I'm sure.

Crap, I think I may have voted for that guy - now I'm really embarrased. I didn't realize he was a "sanctity of marriage" guy or I probably would have just non-voted. I usually vote republican when there is no Libertarian option.

Nothing is more telling of one's character than blatant hypocracy.

I hope this issue deprograms a few more neocons.

Stay away from preaching Christians and pay attention to practicing Christians who are not trying to shove their morals down someone elses throat.

Sounds like Ron Paul to me.

Love it. Seeing some pompous hypocrite pwned by their own lack of morals is always a delight. His suffering and humiliation is like sweet candy.

Eat it, hypocrite! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :D
