The opening paragraph states she was killed undergoing surgery after the attack, but the rest of the article appears to be the earlier published comments that she was safe.....

Updates to follow.

Not just aid, we pay them "protection money" too for their nuclear arsenal.

She had been living in London with her family until she decided that she was her countries best chance to turn back into a democratic country. She risked her life to save Pakistan and its people and is a hero for her efforts and bravery.

Confirmed.

Ron Paul was talking about Pakistan as a basked case that was going to blow up only this morning.

+1 for his prophet skills.

This has to be one of the least surprising assassinations ever. No disrespect intended.

Cause they have the bomb.

Understood - I meant it more as a rhetorical question.

Just heard Albright on NBC claim that Musharraf is "our friend".

What a load of rubbish. We sell them fighter jets, military supplies and fund his operations, and he turns the country into a dictatorship. 6 years pass and still no sign of bin Laden.

Suprise suprise.

With allies like Musharraf's who needs enemies? I mean the man has done virtually nothing to combat Al-Qaeda yet this administration sends him billions of our tax dollars (no strings attached) in the vain hope that he will do something. It is disgusting.

Musharraf's military government is poisoned with extremists, they cannot be trusted. I doubt this assassination will change the direction of the Bush administration, they have no idea what they are doing and the last thing they will do is admit they are wrong.

The NeoCons will really play with this one, though!
