The question is, if you supported someone before Paul, who was it?

I supported Ron Paul since I heard rumors he might run in late 2006 leading up to the NH Liberty Forum. Before that, I'd never have imagined I'd vote for a Republicrat ever in my life! I still hope the Libertarian party will endorse Ron Paul so it doesn't feel like I'm voting for a non-Libertarian...

I heard about this congressman from Texas who always voted pro constitution several years ago, so I immediately supported him.

The Obama number jumps out at me. Fascinating. It would be interesting to see the "other" category expanded out. Add McCain and Edwards? The sampling is too small to draw any conclusions. I'd like to see this play out with some 1000's of responses.

None of the above.

I supported Dr. Paul before he announced.

He was the only one available who would get me to break my vow to never vote for a demopublicratican again.

Romney I think. I like his business experience, so I thought he would be the best man to cure the deficit. Then my friend told me about the long-shot candidate who wants to abolish internet control, the CIA, the DOE,...

I actually boycotted the entire F*ing election until I found Dr. Paul and his message.

If Paul is not on the ticket, I will go back to nonvoting. Its the only moral option.

Didn't give a $h!t before I found out about Ron Paul.

Before the debates and before I knew any of the candidates on either side... I do remember saying something like, "If the Democrats don't win the election, they're a party full of morons." lol

Back in late April I decided that since candidates were starting to run their campaigns earlier than usual I'd try to get a head start and figure out who I wanted to vote for. I looked primarily at the Republicans because I have always voted republican. Unfortunately a lot of them met with my dissatisfaction. That is until I researched a little-known congressman from Texas. You know his name. He stood out because he actually thought about things... he didn't try to win off of the ability to crack a good joke at the right time or because he had a lot of name recognition. I fell in love with this man's ideas, some of which I already held to be true, much of which I heard for the very first time. I became the only person I knew who actually supported Ron Paul. I told friends and family about him, because I couldn't contain myself. It was as though I found a ton of money in an old pair of jeans... it was fantastic, and I had to talk about it. Now many of my friends and even family have been turned onto Ron Paul and will even caucus for him here in Iowa. Who would I have voted for if I hadn't found Ron Paul... probably Huckabee or Obama. I'm so glad now that I don't have to vote for the lesser of two evils.

The only reason I supported him was because I didn't support anyone on the Repub. side and I didn't want Hitlery.

I also think the number of Obama folks is interesting. Before I found out about Ron I voted firstly, against republicans, and secondly, for whomever seemed most reasonable. Obama wasn't a Republican and he seemed like a decent, intelligent person.

It's not like any of the politicians I had ever seen presented as options supported anything that I personally believed needed to be done. I suppose I was just trying to keep things least bad.

...and first time voters.

I have to admit I'm astounded. The Obama number has held at around 15%. In a micro-sense, this affects my outreach and canvassing. I take a small group of different individuals to lunch 4 times a week where the conversation somehow turns to the election. :) In a macro-sense, does anyone else smell and opportunity?

I'll leave it to the more politically savvy to make sense of this....

my answer is - none. decided after he announced he would run, but had to convince myself when I knew I couldn't support any of the other Republicans. decided that support of the Constitution trumps all other issues especially after the Bush dilution/destruction of the same.

I flirted* with Kucinich for about 15 minutes before Ron Paul entered the race. The day he did it was Ron Paul all the way.

*I doubt he would have been able to actually convince me to vote, though, I just liked his truthiness.

None...I started supporting RP about a year ago. Before that, I figured I'd be checking out the Libertarian candidates once it got closer to the election and I probably would have laughed at you if you told me I'd support anyone in either of the two major parties.

The results kind of back up what I was saying earlier this week...IMO targeting Obama supporters will yield us a good number of converts with the least amount of effort.

Thanks for that YouTube link!

Even though that video is a little over a year old Jesse Ventura sure is telling it like it is! And a little over a year later everything hes saying is still true today! Plus Jesse is saying the samethings thats also been on My Mind basically word for word.

I like the part where Jesse compares 911 & the Irag War with World War 2.

Jesse Ventura basically says.........

On 911...... 15 of the 19 Hijackers was from Saudi Arabia, plus Osama Bin Laden was the master mind and etc. But instead of going after Osama bin Laden and etc etc We Invade Irag instead........Then Jesse compares that (911 and Irag War) with World War 2 saying it's the samething as the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor where the United States Invades "North Korea" instead because of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor!

What was said on CSPAN about RP taking mostly from independents or apathetics seems to be right so far, with Obama being the only other candidate being seriously affected. This'll really be interesting. Our best bet is to spread the word and bring more people to the primaries rather than trying to convert supporters from other bases.

I supported Ron Paul since the end of last election cycle. Prior to that it was an easy choice the last two election cycles:

Ralph Nader

... note appropriate color choice!

I still appreciate Nader's stand against the war. Now I value restoring the Constitutional Republic above all else. We live and learn ... and I am damn proud of my two anti-war votes...

... it must really suck knowing you voted for what resulted in over one million humans' deaths! Sucks for you! Live and learn ...

I almost certainly would have voted for Romney if I hadn't of discovered Paul.

It was right after one of the first republican debates. I was never that politically "in to it," but I watched some of it for fun. So later I went on the msnbc webpage to vote for Romney and lo and behold, some guy named Ron Paul has about 70% of the vote for every single category!

I didn't even remember seeing Ron paul at all (i guess thats what happens when you only get about 3 minutes total!). I was intrigued, so I literally googled "Ron Paul" to see what was so great about this guy that he gets an overwhelming percent of the vote.

And I was never the same...
