Amazing...amazing...

That "Providence helps my poll numbers" is utterly fantastic.. FANTASTICLY PANDERING to your audience! "Liberty" University is the most evangelical college in America.

So so depressing. Can you imagine this guy as President? Our country has already been hijacked by a nut job President that is on a modern day "Crusade"... just imagine what Huckster would do?

It seems important to me.

I mean, if God has endorsed Mike Huckabee, well, maybe it's time to pack it up and call off this whole Ron Paul thing.

Lets not forget that using religion to separate voters in order to gather votes is a Neocon tactic.

A few weeks ago, Mike Huckabee spoke at Liberty University and said this in reference to his suprising rise in the polls

"There's only one explanation for it, and it's not a human one. It's the same power that helped a little boy with two fish and five loaves feed a crowd of five thousand people," Huckabee said.

Just a few days before that Huckabee appeared on the televangelism show Believers' Voice of Victory, and he declared , "I had to come to the conclusion that I only had one client ... when I laid my head on the pillow, I'd say, 'Lord, are you pleased?' ... even if I get voted out of office, I'll never get voted out of heaven.

Yikes, we've got a live one here. I wonder what his foreign policy advisor, CFR President Haass, thinks about all of this.. I'm sure this will really help our foreign relations.

The relationship to Ron Paul, in my opinion, goes back to his Sinclair Lewis quote. There is a pattern playing out here.

I think rhetoric like this is going to turn off more christians than it is going to win over, although I heard my uncle(a neocon, pastor, and former Giuliani supporter) talk about Huck not needing money because god was on his side.

I think Richard Dawkins has the best quote regarding "Liberty" University: "Who accredited them?"

:D +1

And I might add that the Pastamonster also endorsed
Huckabee. So all doors are still open. :)

Separation of Church and State is a myth.

Read the Constitution please.

Congress shall make no law regarding an establishment of religion.

That does not say the church and state is separated. It does say that the Congress cannot pass any law whatsoever that has anything to do with any religion, either pro or against. Thus the Federal Government could never become a theocracy by enforcing a religious observance nor could it ban any religion.

The Separation of Church and State myth is promulgated so as to weaken the moral foundation of society by making religious observance or promotion illegal in certain situations. If an official, teacher or whomever wants to expound their religious views they have the freedom to do so. If the officials of a courthouse want to display the Ten Commandments, for example, they are allowed to do so. If the officials of a courthouse do not want to display the Ten Commandments that is ok too. If they want to display the Flying Spaghetti Monster that is ok too.

I'm not debating that part because I agree with what you've said. My point is that Huckabee is using religion as a strategic tool in his campaign to divide voters in his benefit. That is a typical Neocon tactic, although his usage is the most blatant I've seen.
