Seems like there are a lot of Republicans and Democrats behind the scenes that may hold dual citizenship. What's the downside of a law requiring disclosure of dual citizenship for Federal public servants?

I don't see what relevance it has. I'm a dual citizen. As a dual citizen you've got the rights and duties of TWO countries, so it's not like you're only a "half American". You're full American and full something else, too. Life is tough enough for dual citizens without being demonized. Imagine having TWO governments on your back! :P

Ever heard the term "fifth column"?

That's the relevance.

I think it should be a requirement to disclose dual citizenship only if you are running/appointed to a public office.

I don't see the relevance of it.

only dictatorships are against dual citizenship, and Mugabe has banned it.

Hmmm, the Dutch "dictatorship" has some concerns on dual citizenship.

The Belgian "dictatorship" apparently doesn't allow dual citizenship either. Those fascists.

And of course Dr. Paul proposed his own Constitutional Amendment this year in a closely related issue - anchor babies.

Interesting committee discussion related to both issues
