With respect to the creeping fascism statements. There are at least two very recent and very popular books by very popular writers on this very subject! The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot by Naomi Wolf AND The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism by Naomi Klein. I would have loved to see Dr. Paul say to Tim Russert: "This is not just my opinion, Tim, it's a hot topic..two fine writers, Naomi Klein and Naomi Wolf, have both just written acclaimed books on this very subject...maybe you should read them.."

And the two are hardcore socialists. They make me cringe.

Nonetheless, even if they are socialists they are writing very insightful condemnations of the neocon agenda. I think the broad-spectrum approval of RP's meassage is actually really cool and might help draw more Dems and Indys to vote for RP. Klein always sounds friggin' brilliant to me. Besides, RP has prepared himself to distinguish between "Corporatism" and true free market capitalism. So he could give accolades to Klein and actually segue into how it reinforces his small government position. Wolf mentions RP in her video which is on Youtube. These women seem like good Americans. Wouldn't shock me if they each checked the RP box in the voting booth.

Alex: Did you mean to say that you understand that these writers have actually endorsed RP? That would be cool.

Hah. The problem is that these two equate corporatism with capitalism. Ron Paul is very distinct about separating the two. The Shock doctrine has some good insights about what actually happens, but is wholly inaccurate in what it attributes it to. Thats the inherent problem in this whole corporatism/fascism debate, is the majority of it contributes to anticapitalistic bias, which is hardly what we need more of in this country. Ron Paul is right, these two authors are only half right - right in the diagnosis, wrong in the prescription.

Socialism on the state level eh? Enjoy a recession of your state's economy, then, depending on what level of socialism you are advocating.

Funny, I'm currently reading Naomi Wolf's book :).

What's the Shock Doctrine though? I heard it was anti-free market/libertarian and blames Friedman for some bad stuff.

Exactly. I'm not recommending those books to anyone.
