Another Congressman gives support to repeal US Unlawful Gambling Ban

April 12th, 2007

A report on compatiblepoker.com website claims that Congressman Ron Paul is giving his support to Congressman Barney Frank in the repeal of the US Unlawful Gambling Act.

It has apparently been confirmed by Congressman Paul’s Legislative Director that Dr. Paul intends to work with House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank to repeal the act.

This will come as welcome news to the Poker Players Alliance, of which there are currently 321,102 members, according to their website. The most prominent member being Senator Alfonse D'Amato, who serves as Chairman of the Board.

Senator D’Amato will be hosting a live web cast on 12th April, in which he will give an update of the federal government issues facing poker today, and what the PPA is doing to fight for player’s rights.

PPA members have the opportunity to send e-mail questions before and during the Web cast which the Senator will answer live. Further details can be found here.

Another easy group that he can get

Ron Paul has a lot of support in the gambling community but he could certainly do with more.

Twoplustwo.com is one of the biggest poker and gambling communities on the web and they have very active topics on RP,

Don't smack me for this, but in all honesty, there are a ton of folks who live "alternative lives" that I think would support Dr. paul for his "Leave them alone" POV.

Swingers, Poly's, All manner of spiritual and religous based groups (scientology, wicca, etc)

That said, I think that too much of that support in the public eye would probably hurt the campaign rather than help.

George Stephanapolis is a gambler...he's willing to bet everything he has on Ron Paul not becoming president.

Great Idea!

This also gives supporters more Paul ammo to use in states like Nevada and places with casinos such as reservations. It's another potential excuse to go up to someone with a flyer and say, "Ron Paul wants to keep gambling legal and restore online gambling. Thought you would like to know."

:D :D :D

To informed internet gamblers, Ron Paul is very popular because he would be least likely to regulate anything on the internet. The key is getting less informed gamblers who think that all the Republicans are responsible for the bill that made it harder for people to get money in the gambling sites. Some of the more liberal democrats want to regulate and tax internet gambling which is better than nothing I guess, but Ron Paul wouldn't try and regulate it at all. As the word continues to get out I think all internet gamblers will see that Ron Paul is their best shot to get things back to the way they were before Bill Frist pushed the internet gambling bill through Congress as a rider on a Port Security Bill. A lot of internet gamblers are younger so they are going to be attracted to Paul's message.
