Police Begin Fingerprinting on Traffic Stops

WBAY

If you're ticketed by Green Bay police, you'll get more than a fine. You'll get fingerprinted, too. It's a new way police are cracking down on crime.

If you're caught speeding or playing your music too loud, or other crimes for which you might receive a citation, Green Bay police officers will ask for your drivers license and your finger. You'll be fingerprinted right there on the spot. The fingerprint appears right next to the amount of the fine.

Police say it's meant to protect you -- in case the person they're citing isn't who they claim to be. But not everyone is sold on that explanation.

I don't know how this thread went without comment. I can't see how this is legal but it surely doesn't surprise me.

I would refuse. No question. Fingerprinting follows after you are arrested because that's the law.

Not that anyone cares about the law. Somehow our justice system got redefined from 'upholding the law' to 'getting the bad guys' and 'keeping us safe'.

Not anymore, I had to give two thumb prints when I got my drivers license.

Just made me feel like a criminal.

If you refuse I bet they will just end up tasering you.

Well, in some states a traffic ticket = being arrested and then you sign yourself out with a promise to either pay or show up in court.

No. That's not tyranny

By saying that its like putting my plant in the closet and giving it no water or sun and every day opening the door of the closet and telling it how well its doing and how loving my care if it is.

And if I give up all my rights, then I'll really be safe.

As Bush says so eloquently, let Freedom ring.
