Interesting comparison between current Rasmussen and AOL polls.

Rasmussen AOL
21-Dec-07 21-Dec-07
Huckabee 19% 17%
Guiliani 16% 18%
Romney 15% 15%
McCain 15% 14%
Thompson11% 9%
Paul 6% 26%
Hunter 1% 1%
Oth/Und 17% NA

It's amazing how close the results are except for Ron Paul.

Not sure what (if anything) this means, but I found it interesting.

Take the Oth/Und 17% and add it to Paul's 6% and it is very close! 23%

Interesting interesting. The fact that all the other percentages are so close, it would be hard to cover this up as "Ron Paul spammers" got a link to the poll?

Looks like RP spammers to me. How else do you explain it?

With that said, I put RP at 12-15% as "scientific" polls miss a lot of RP supporters who have just cell phones and/or have not voted lately.

Any historical data points to reference, to see how long, if at all, this trend has been occurring?

If you just added say 100 votes for Ron Paul in your typical 500 person poll, this is what the numbers would look like. That is effectively equivalent to spamming.

You need to factor out Rasmussen's undecideds to be comparable.

The AOL poll is based on 55,976 votes (thus far). You have to log in with an aol screen name to vote. The site knows that you've already voted -- not sure if it is using cookies, IP addresses, and/or screen names to deter multiple votes.

I didn't have to log on with an AOL screen name?

How sure are we that you can't vote twice?

I love to see RP doing so well, I just hope it does have measures in place to keep anyone from cheating.

Working in IT, I could log on from at least 20 different IP addresses and vote. I suspect that is true for others as well, but I haven't bothered....Ron Paul is going to win anyway.:D

i don't think the other candidates are directing known supporters to AOL to vote. Not sure if this makes the poll any less or more reliable though, especially for the primaries.

Did you guys see the percentages in Alaska and Hawaii man that is awesome.
Hawaii 41% with Rudy closest at 19%
Alaska 45% with McCain closest at 14%

I also noticed in Iowa and NH he has a substantial lead. If the AOL map is even close to the primary turn out we have this in the bag by such a huge margin it is hard to comprehend.

Even in the states that Rudy is strong in like FL Ron is still in very close second. we just need to make sure we turn out more for the primary than anyone else.
