1. Ron Paul (Flight Surgeon) - who wants to go after Osama but get our troops out of policing Iraq.
2. John McCain - rumor is he may drop out soon (wonkette.com)
3. Jim Gilmore - the LEAST likely candidate of the 10
4. Tommy Thompson - a very unlikely candidate

Of the Democrats, only Chris Dodd served.

It didn't seem to help Kerry or Gore...

Also, I strongly doubt McCain will drop out before the primaries begin, he will just spend way less than he planned to.

Just because he didn't win, doesn't mean that his service didn't help him. He may not have even gotten the nomination w/o his military service.

It's very likely that every GOP candidate on your list, with the exception of Paul, will be out of the race when the results come in from Ames.

McCain - McCain might remain, but he's not going to rise to prominence again in this race (Perhaps Paul should offer to debate him 1 vs 1 in front of a crowd, his campaign might accept).

Thompson - Thompson said that he needs to win Ames or he's out. As he won't win Ames, it'll be his Little Bighorn.

Gilmore - His eye surgery proves a good opportunity to gracefully exit. He'll likely use the opportunity within a month (or just after Ames) as he probably has his good eye on an eventual seat in the Senate.
