This is a pet peeve of mine.

Please don't use childish nicknames for our opponents.

Even when you're around Ron Paul supporters.

Its childish, like when you made fun of kids in gradeschool.
It makes you LOOK BAD.
It makes people take you less seriously.

Do you think Ron Paul calls Guliani "Ghouliani"?
Or *cringe* Fuckabee?

When I hear something like that, I immediately think less about that person.

Like Emmanuel Goldstein in '1984', the subject of the "two minute hate", where citizens were encouraged to hate the symbol of the opposition and to revel in their hate. It means that person hates... it dehumanizes the opposition and reduces them to a representation of something to hate.

Hatred is the anger of the weak.

It is not healthy or correct to enjoy hate.

Be a representative for Ron Paul whenever you discuss politics. Don't use insulting nicknames, our opponents can be defeated on the issues.

Amen!

We represent Ron Paul as supporters and we need to be mature about it. Don't act like an immature sore loser.

Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering

I concur.

I'm still calling him Ghouliani in private.

There was an interesting discussion on another thread with people upset about how they were talking about Dr. Paul and his supporters on that site (LGF? I can't remember). When I challenged the posters there if we don't do the same, the conversation changed completely. It's not always easy (ok, it's rarely easy), but we should try to show others the respect we want them to show Dr. Paul.

Thats why I suggest we never use these nicknames, even in private.
