Whoever helps answer this, I can give them some really cool free sci-fi-action movies/downloads in return.

I am trying to put a flash video(.FLV) of Ron Paul that I downloaded, and I want to turn it into the best quality format that can play on a DVD Disc.

My question is, what is the most cleanest format to transfer the .flv into, so that I have the least Loss???

I used this program the other day and transfered into, .mpg, .avi and .wmv But all of those had some loss of video picture quality(just enough to be annoying).

So,

1.What is a the best format to transfer to? mpeg 2?

and

2. what is the easiest(and Free) converter to use that will let me do this?

I already have the dvd burning software so that's not a problem.

I just need to know what format for the dvd and what converter.

Thank you!

I just tried my winavi video converter (http://www.winavi.com/en/video-converter/video-converter.htm) to change an flv into a vob, which is a raw dvd file. I don't know what constraints the trial version has.

What is the file size? If it is under 150mb I can help with the second part.

I use a free program called WinFF.
http://biggmatt.com/winff

It will convert files from .flv (or just about any other format) to .mpg.
1. Click add to import the videos you want to convert
2. Select NTSC DVD (High Quality, 4:3) from the drop down conversion menu (this will create fairly high-quality .mpg files)
3. Select the output folder
4. Press convert

That should give you the best quality for DVD. Transcoding to AVI would be better, but at some point it has to be transcoded to .mpg if its going to be on a DVD.

AVI

Use riva FLV encoder its free.
http://www.rivavx.com/?encoder

its not meant to encode backwards BUT IT DOES!!

you just have to open the file then manually change the file extension in the program from FLV to AVI.

Its fast and easy. Only takes about a min to encode a 10 mb file.
