What is the best format to transfer a .FLV into?

Whoever helps answer this, I can give them some really cool free sci-fi-action movies/downloads in return.

I am trying to put a flash video(.FLV) of Ron Paul that I downloaded, and I want to turn it into the best quality format that can play on a DVD Disc.

My question is, what is the most cleanest format to transfer the .flv into, so that I have the least Loss???

I used this program the other day and transfered into, .mpg, .avi and .wmv But all of those had some loss of video picture quality(just enough to be annoying).

I already have the dvd burning software so that's not a problem.

1) The best thing is to ask the creator of the video for a highquality version.

2) If he doesn't answer your question, use the program SUPER (the best conversion program IMHO - and it's free) and just encode it to another format in the highest quality possible.

Use riva FLV encoder its free.

its not meant to encode backwards BUT IT DOES!!

you just have to open the file then manually change the file extension in the program from FLV to AVI.

Its fast and easy. Only takes about a min to encode a 10 mb file.

Web based video converters really suck. If you want the best tool for conversion its called ffmpeg, and is best used on Linux - but there are Win32 ports.

FLV is a lossy format and whatever you convert it into will not look any better.

I don't think video can go on cds, only dvds.

If you want to put it on dvd, then I'd say you obviously want to encode it straight into mpeg-2 for the dvd. Nothing inbetween.

Uncompressed AVI, or a lossless avi codec (huffyuv, lagarith) works though, if you absolutely need an intermediate file.

to convert a .flv formatted video, use websites such as vixy.net. When you choose what format to convert it however, it really depends on what type of a computer and editing software you are using. If you are using windows, then go for AVI, or if you're using a mac, use MOV. On vixy.net, it tells you what each one of these formats is good for.

Avi is not a codec, it is a file type. You can have avi's coded in many different codecs, like divx, dv, etc. You will want software that can convert to uncopressed avi. Usually the more high end software converts to uncompressed, but there may be a free one out there. Honestly the only way I've ever done it is to actually bring the video into Macromedia Flash and export individual frames and then the audio and reconstruct them in after effects, and then render out mpeg2, .avi (uncompressed), or .mov(uncompressed, or animation compression). Like others have said, quality will not be improved, you will just lose the least. MPEG2 would be an option to if there is a program that will convert from flv to mpeg2
