So long as you are registered to vote, the ONLY thing you need to do is to ask for a Republican ballot when you come to the polls. (Or when you request your write-in ballot).
The only difference between a Republican, Democrat or Independent ballot, is that the Republican ballot allows you to vote in Republican primaries. A Democrat ballot allows you to vote in Democrat primaries & Independent ballots don't allow you to vote in any primaries.
If you tend to be an Independent voter in Ohio, I would suggest always requesting a Republican or Democrat ballot when there are primary elections. This at least allows you to have a voice in who you get to decide on in the General elections.
