Is this Linux XP operating system compatable??

I have windows Xp and it's not compatable for some reason so I need a new operating system(I don't want to discuss this aspect).


I have a Ron Paul video I made that I need to put on a DVD for a group of people who don't have computers. So I need to turn it from an .FLV file into an mpeg format via windows Media Coder.

Is this OS called Linux XP compatable with Media Coder?

I think it uses firefox as a browser. Also will it be compatable with other microsoft products or will it be a pain in the butt to deal with?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

I doubt it, but you can do the conversion with mencoder.

No offense, but judging from your post you will probably have an easier time doing this in Windows.

First, you need a free program called winFF.

It will convert files from .flv (or just about any other format) to .mpg.
1. Click add to import the videos you want to convert
2. Select NTSC DVD (High Quality, 4:3) from the drop down conversion menu (this will create .mpg files)
3. Select the output folder
4. Press convert

Then you need DVD 'authoring' software to create the DVD. There are free tools out there like DVDStyler:

There are also programs you can buy like Adobe Premier.

Windows Vista has a really nice built in DVD authoring tool that can take major formats like .avi and .wmp, but you still have to convert .flv files manually.

Linux takes at least a month to learn, If you need to get this done now I would advise the previous posts. If you do take the jump I would advise UBUNTU over anything else for being user friendly. www.ubuntu.com
the advantage of Linux is being able to transcode an entire directory of flv files with one short command.
