I think pledge matching is a lot more involving and ultimately better way to get people to make a donation, but anything is good I suppose.

$1000 is a lot of money for most of the people.

However, if you know that 9,999 people will do the same, then, you can sacrifice a little bit (or a lot) depending on your situation to raise $1000 and deliver an embarassing blow to MSM pundits and first tier candidates.

Well, I hope you're posting this somewhere else besides just this board, because we don't have anywhere close to that number of people.

The mass media looks at how many people donate as a factor too. If they see only 10,000 people donated $10,000,000 to Ron Paul then they will disregard the numbers. We need to get all donations in no matter how small or large they are. I would rather have 100,000 people donate $100 than 10,000 people donate $1,000.

Money is nice, but it's the vote that counts. We shouldn't make people feel like if they can't afford to donate $1,000 that they shouldn't donate at all is what I'm trying to say. Donate anything you can, whether it's $1 or $2,300, because more importantly it shows that Dr. Paul has one more supporter.

Yes, but more donors giving less is sustainable. Donors tap out at $2300.

Currently I'm between jobs, but going to have one coming up in a week or so. It'll take about 3 weeks 'till I can pledge $1000, but I'm in! The people that took up arms to fight in the Revolutionary War sacrificed a lot more.

Illegal.

If you gave $2,300 last quarter, can you give more this quarter?
No. You can give $2,300 per election, per candidate, I believe. However, since the election for nomination is considered separate from the election for actual presidency, you can donate another $2,300 for the general election. However, there are limits to how candidates can use general election donations during the primary season. I believe you can also give $2,300 to Ron Paul's congressional campaign (since he is also going to run for his current position in Congress), but I don't know if either of these campaigns are official yet, so you might not be able to donate to either of them yet; just the nomination campaign so far.

While I completely understand that a lot of people here can't pledge, there are a lot of us where $1k contribution is nothing compared to what we pay in Federal Income tax in a 4 year presidential term. (Over $50k taken from me last year alone)

I see this as a risky, long term investment in reducing my federal income taxes over my lifetime. If it successful, it will pay back 100x what I put in.

For those of you who can't pledge, volunteering your time *today* is just as good. Real world, press the flesh, get the word out to locals (not just online promotion where RP supporters are already dominating)

That's only about 200 people per state doing this pledge. 200 people is a drop in a bucket of millions!

TheConstitutionLives

Here's another way you could do this pledge. If you and a friend know that you can't afford to donate 1,000 then make an agreement that each of you will donate 500 and just one of you sign up and give the 1,000. Better than nothing I suppose.

I agree with this. That was sort of how I was looking at donating the maximum too. For now, I think $1,000 for Ron to get $10,000,000 is a bit too risky for my pocketbook. If it was $1,000 for him to get $30,000,000 I'd be much more willing to sign it. If he had $30,000,000 im my mind, that would pretty much gaurentee him then Nomination -- because it'd be enough to him to get his message out. But that would require 30,000 people to sign it instead of 10,000.

I still might sign it anyway. The IRS takes over $1,000 a year from me -- over 4 years the IRS takes about $4,000.

The current gambling sites put Paul at 1-15 odds. 1/15 of $4,000 is 267. I'll have donated more then that by the end of this quarter I'm sure.

I'd sign a petition for an additional over what I was already planning $100 for 100k people in a heart beat though.

I just found this for those of us who can't really swingthe $1,000 each.

It's $500 if 20,000 other people do it.
http://www.pledgebank.com/RonPaul

I don't think people should sign both unless they've got $1,500 to swign in case both succede.

Of course if both petitions succeded that would be $20,000,000 for Paul which would be even more of a guarente of his winning so I probably still could swing it in the long term.

Of course, many of that 105 won't feel they'll be ableto afford it unless they know Paul will be raisingthe rest of the $10 Million.
Please Promote this pledge. We can meet the goal.

With both pledges, the numbers for each can be cut in half to total the $10,000,000. Can these pledges be edited? They also need to be 2-month pledges, not 3.

And, at the risk of repeating myself, MAKE THIS A TWO (2) MONTH PLEDGE so we can make the 3rd quarter.

(Edit: Okay, looks like the close date is September 16, so he must have changed it. It still says three months, but all that matters to me is that we get this money in by September 30.)

Here's an idea for MeetUp groups (if someone hasn't already suggested this):

1) Make sure all the MeetUp members are aware of this pledge. If the members can afford this great deal of money - awesome!

2) Pool money together between MeetUp members and make as many $1000 donations as possible (maybe under someone's name but say that it is for the ___ MeetUp group)

3) Once 1 and 2 are exhausted - FUNDRAISE! The MeetUp groups could set up PUBLIC events (i.e. like a bake sale or car wash come to mind) to raise money for this pledge. At the events they could also distribute Ron Paul literature, so it'll be like killing two birds with one stone and it will give the MeetUp groups an alternative to doing sign waving (which is awesome BTW.)

Anyway those are just a couple ideas people might want to try. The MeetUp groups are growing very fast, so I'm sure nothing but more positive news will come out from the hard work people are putting in.

PS Sorry skyorbit, I didn't even realize you posted basically what I just suggested :P
