What software do you guys use to do this stuff??? How do you get the video captures from TV? In general, where do you get the clips you put in your videos. Please guide me a little. I actually made my first YouTube - just me with my flip camera. It's fairly lame, but I had to break my cherry. I see now that I don't even need the flip - I can do it right on my Macbook.

I'm by no means an expert, but I'll tell you what I know.

Windows Movie Maker comes with Windows XP SPII (which is winxp updated). It's free, but buggy, and very limited as to bells and whistles - but it's basic and it works well for that. It's what I use until I figure out how to use Adobe Premier Pro.

You only need to use such a program if you intend to add subtitles, cut videos to size, add music, etc. If you already have a video file, you can upload only that to youtube. Files of the type .flv, .avi, .mpg, and .wmv will work.

How do you get the video captures from TV?

If you have no TiVo or some other harddisk recorder then you need a tv-card so you can watch/record tv on your computer.

Go to: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

Enter the url of youtube video which you want to put in your clip. It will give you a .flv file format of the video to save on your computer.

There are many softwares out there that will enable you to edit and cut/put together different videos and make one good video. :)

I don't have my tv connected to computer but I can give you tips on how I rip and edit internet media files -

1. Use Replay Media Catcher to save all stream files to your computer - http://www.applian.com/replay-media-catcher/index.php

2. Use Nero Vision to covert flv to mpeg etc

3. If I need to cut a specific part of the video, I use VirtualdubMod - http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/
