View Full Version : Situation CRITICAL deep in the heart of New Hampshire - OLFD

A Ron Paul Rebel

I guess the title is everything. Let's try this one. :)

I've been waiting 15 years for a candidate like Dr. Paul
and I'd rather be nowhere else than on the frontline of
this great historical revolution...

For example, yesterday we did a massive covert sign-bomb and
sign wave down in Portsmouth, NH where Dr. Paul was
visiting local businesses. And then later did the same in
Concord before going and listening to 'The Man' speak
to a college class of 100 or so.

We also stopped by HQ in Concord to help assemble
signs and phone bank.

To finish the night off, we brainstormed new strategies
and aired what we thought (good and bad) of the day's
actions and results.

This is where I want to be and what I want to be doing!
And now I've been asked to be a 'house captiain' for OLFD,
which I can't do on my own.

Canvassing takes gas money, picking people up at the airport
takes gas money, feeding a household of people takes money,
internet access, utilities and other houshold bills all require
more cash than I have to spare... which isn't much at all.

I've offered everything that I have to this fight for freedom...
My time, efforts and energy. My mind, money (not much there)
and motivation. And I want to continue doing everything that
I can but I need your help.

Please contribute what you can to help ensure that our
fight for freedom can continue.

Thanks to all who have donated so far.

I guess I'm in the same boat as Hunter (little money).

I'll be joining OLFD in NH just after Christmas and I'll be staying until after the primary. I can pay for my gas (1500 miles one way), and I can pay for my own meals. I just want to thank anyone who is donating money so that I have a place to stay while I'm there. I'll do my very best to give you a good value for your investment.

Thanks.

For those who are wondering, there is no PAC associated
with this. So if you are maxed out, donating to thise chipin
won't be considered a donation to the campaign.

I can vouch for Hunter's dedication and thriftfulness.

I am living with him here in NH for OLFD. Hunter encourages 'Ron Table' discussions for grassroots planning that yield fresh ideas and strengthen our unity/morale. He's one of the 'older' guys up here who keep us 'youngins' focused.

Also, he rolls his own cigarettes to save money and basically lives on toast and peanut butter/jelly, as well as being able to sleep anywhere and be content (or at least he hasn't complained!). Guy leaves a very small footprint and adds much to our campaign.

Here he is in the Portsmouth Herald (the online version is called 'seacoast'):

Tomorrow we'll be heading to the store to do some
thrifty, bargain shopping for groceries... We really
appreciate everything you are doing. As of now, we
will be able to eat and travel for a little while, keep it
coming and I assure you that we'll kick ass every day.

How is the progress going in NH?

Can you give us an insight on what the majority of people feel about Ron Paul?

I kind of take it for granted now, but we are KICKING ASS
in N.H.!!!:):):)

EVERYTIME we sign wave, we get massive waves, honks
and smiles... and just the other day, I noticed 50-70 yr olds
(likely republican voters :-) were waving and smiling exponentially
more than any time before!:p

As I've been saying for a month now, we ARE going to take
N.H. in a Ron Paul landslide.

Hunter,

Since I am looking in from overseas I have a few questions about the key activity of canvassing.

Is canvassing an organised effort being coordinated by the official campaign?
Is each canvasser given a list of voters who they are responsible for?
Are canvassers being trained to identify positives, ignore and not offend negatives, and draw out the uncommitted?
Are there plans to give help to those with mobility problems to get to the polls on election day?
Are there contingency plans for election day if the day is a weather disaster?

I'm just trying to get a handle on how serious an effort the official campaign is making.

TIA

I am saving this thread and will send a bit your way.

1) Yes and No, there's canvassing door to door that is coordinated by the campaign and then there is canvassing that the grassroots organizes such as business canvassing.
2) No, it's generally a neighborhood with 'likely repub/independent voters'
3) The best training comes from grassroots and 'Ron'd Table Discussions'... nothing official... and I'm glad. :)
4) There's unofficial plans but nothing as organized as we need.

Thanks for everything that you can offer.

This is the best cause I've seen yet. An example that should be replicated and expanded to wherever the campaign needs its troops most throughout 2008.

Thankfully you know you can always come here to top up on necessary funds. Try and cook up some multi-veg, lentil stews and soups at least twice a week!

I hope this isnt a dumb question, but what if any connection does this have with the guy from google that quit his job and set up the 5 for freedom drive earlier this month?

Not a dumb question at all. There's a pretty big relationship there...
but there's also definite line between campaign and grassroots.

The 'Five for Freedom' was for Operation Live Free or Die, which
has been used for the rentals of over 20 ten person houses.
We are occupying them as we speak.

Roxi explains it in more detail...

Operation Live Free or Die pays for the Rent on each of the 20 houses rented, that adds up to a lot of money, plus things like materials we need etc... the PAC can not however (due to FEC restrictions, pay the deposits or grocery or gas bills for the individuals, so the house captains are responsible for paying the deposit signing the lease, making sure the house is stocked with all the items it needs to maintain it (food, toilet paper, light bulbs, etc... I have been a house captain for several weeks now, I pay 40 dollars a day in gas canvassing, picking up volunteers at the airport, and going to events, SO volunteers are asked to chip in what they can to the house captain to help pay for bills and gas and things, and we ask for outside donations, for example, mine and my boyfriends chip in has raised 1900 dollars to help fund our trip, we have lived as thriftily as a human possibly can, and went without many things we needed to be here doing this, and you can call me to verify by going to the operation live free or die website and calling the phone number on the website, most likely i will answer the phone, you can email me at the operation live free or die website and I will respond, you can verify with vijay that I am doing a great deal of the organization and administrative work with OLFD... most of the people who have come here have either said, I am having the best experience of my life, I dont want to leave, or I want to move here.... I personally have said all three of those. user RonPaulRebel is about to become a house captain... we still desperately need house captains, if anyone thinks they could come here and help out please email me ASAP
