View Full Version : Barbara Boxer Using Ron Paul to Raise Money

A friend of mine who supports Barbara Boxer (the Democratic California Senator) sent me the following email she got from Boxer's campaign yesterday. The email focuses on Ron Paul's fundraising.

As I wrote her back, Boxer is trying to raise $50,000 RP raised $6 Million. $6 Million/ $50,000=120

So Ron Paul is about 120 times better than Barbara Boxer.

Sounds about right to me (though perhaps a bit too uncharitable to Dr. Paul)

Dear <XXYYZZ>,

If Ron Paul can raise over $6 million in a day, I know we can reach our $50,000 goal before 2008. Click here to contribute today!

With just 15 days until the Iowa caucuses, millions of Americans are starting to make decisions about who our next President should be. But believe me, while most of the country is thinking about the 2008 Presidential election, the eyes of the far right in California are already starting to focus on our next Senate race in 2010.

Thanks to your support, and the help of thousands of other friends like you, I've been able to win this Senate seat three times. Our right-wing opponents still claim that each victory has been a "fluke." They don't understand that the people of California agree with me that we need to do more to end the war in Iraq, protect our environment, provide access to affordable health care and create good jobs for our families. And they just can't get over the fact that the people of our state are pro-choice. When I stand up to defend a woman's right to choose, I am standing up for California.

The right-wing will never give up -- not when it comes to me, not when it comes to our progressive community, and not when it comes to this Senate seat that represents more than 37 million Americans.

That's why we've got to gear up, right now, for the tough fight that lies ahead. It's crucial that we show the press, the pundits, and my potential Republican opponents that our campaign is already strong and getting stronger. And the best way to do that is to end the year with a solid fundraising boost, powered by the grassroots support of friends like you from across California and all across America.

<Help me gear up for the tough fight ahead. Please contribute towards our ambitious $50,000 grassroots fundraising goal today -- and help us finish 2007 strong as we head into the New Year!

We know that the far right will be coming after me with everything they've got -- because they can't stand what we stand for.

Just this past Monday, I joined with Senator Chris Dodd to demand that our government stop spying on Americans without a warrant and refuse to grant retroactive immunity to phone companies that broke privacy laws, because otherwise we will never find out what went on and which Americans were spied upon. I stood up and spoke out on the Senate floor because I believe deep in my heart that we can't win the war on terror when we walk away from the checks and balances in our Constitution. We must protect the privacy rights of our citizens.

It was a lonely vote. Only nine other Senators were there with me on this crucial issue, speaking out for our fundamental rights as Americans. But I'm not afraid to stand up for what's right, even if I'm standing alone.

You know that the right-wing will come after me in the next campaign and we need to be prepared.

So we need to start raising the funds we need, right now, to fight back against the right-wing attacks that we know are just around the corner.

<Help me gear up for the tough fight ahead. Please contribute towards our ambitious $50,000 grassroots fundraising goal today -- and help us finish 2007 strong as we head into the New Year!

We've made significant progress together since gaining a narrow Democratic majority in Congress -- especially our recent success on global warming legislation in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, a huge step forward for America and one of my proudest accomplishments in over 30 years of public service.

But there's much, much more we need to accomplish on global warming, on Iraq, on health care, on education, and on so many other issues -- and because of that, we know that I'll be a top target for the right-wing in 2010. So I'm asking you to help me prepare for a big fight today.

<Help me gear up for the tough fight ahead. Please contribute towards our ambitious $50,000 grassroots fundraising goal today -- and help us finish 2007 strong as we head into the New Year!

Thank you so much for your continued friendship and support.

Happy Holidays!

Barbara Boxer
U.S. Senator

P.S. Just a few days ago, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul raised over $6 million online in one day. But our BarbaraBoxer.com community never backs down from a challenge! If Ron Paul can raise $6 million in one day, I'm confident we can raise $50,000 before the year ends. <Click here to contribute $100, $50, $25, or whatever you can afford to my campaign today! I know I can count on you.

Wow, she's placed a meter on her website. Not live updating, but still, its impressive to see people copying Ron Paul.

Unbelievable! This from the wench who voted against a ban on partial birth abortion. I loath this sorry excuse for a woman/senator.

Sadly for her its all about the message and not the person. That's the tricky part.

You can easily raise the money Barbara. All you have to do is change your message from socialism to freedom.

I wouldn't give Babs a wooden nickel. Those asshats on the hill sold all of us out a long time ago and don't deserve squat.

Ron Paul has a lot of support in California. I don't understand why Boxer needs to raise any money though. The Republicans don't even try to run much opposition to the Senate seats here. Though if a Californian Ron Paul Republican wanted to run I would gladly promote the hell out of that person.

Don't get me started on Barbara Boxer. She is one of the worst Senators in DC along with Ted Kennedy & Harry Reid.
