I did my first Marathon last year in Washington DC (The Marine Corp Marathon), and this year (10/07/07) I will be running the Chicago Marathon.

IDEA...

An estimated 1.2 million spectators will line the streets for this year’s LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. I am thinking amongst the 35,000+ runners that come from all over the world - there must be a sizeable chunk supporting Ron Paul. What an opportunity to “Run for Ron” for 26.2 miles? We could all run as a group or group(s) by pace/time, wear custom RON PAUL running shirts and maybe have spectators who are Ron Paul supporters organize in groups throughout the race to support the Runners for Ron. :) How about a Pre or Post race Ron Paul Rally?

We also have The New York, Boston and Marine Corp marathons among others. If we find a formula that works well – we can implement the plan at all the different races throughout the country.

Have the Chicago area Meet-Ups considered doing anything around the October 7th Chicago Marathon?
How about the Meet-Up Groups in Washington DC, New York, Boston, etc.?

Just thought I’d throw the idea out there…

Sounds like a great idea to me. We just need his name out there any way we can. His message will take care of itself.

If you are planning on running the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2007 or plan to be a spectator and want to do something to promote Ron Paul's candidacy - please post a reply here.

I'll be coming from Florida with at least 1 maybe 3 other RP supporters.

Could Meet-up Groups around the country please see if you have members who will be runners or spectators at The Chicago Marathon on October 7th?

There will be 35,000 runners and 1.2 Million Spectators !

I think there is a great opportunity for some serious Ron Paul Awareness here.

We are doing something similar on a much smaller scale in Jacksonville:

Yes - it's closed but there are going to be 1.2 million spectators! How many of those are Ron Paul supporters? How about a group of supporters at every mile?

And how many of the 35,000 runners support Ron Paul?

I just think there is a great opportunity for awareness at some of these large races around the country.

I'm running in the Chicago Marathon this year. I'm going to run at my own pace (maybe break 4 hours? In my dreams . . .) but I think it's a good idea to wear some Ron Paul gear. I'll see what I can do. Anyone else signed up to run in it?

I did my first last year (4hrs and 40 mins)

Hope to do 4hrs and 30mins or less - this year.

At a minimum all RP supporters should meetup somewhere at the race. I would really like to see the Chicago area Meetups take advantage of the event. 35,000 runners and 1.2 million spectators. This could be a great marketing opportunity!

Hey marathoners! My husband is a runner, and he'd like to get his hands on a Ron Paul running shirt that he could wear on his training runs and at races. Any idea where he could find one?

Also, he'll be running the Boston Marathon next April, so any other Ron Paul fans who'll be running or attending, let's get a big group out there with Ron Paul's name plastered everywhere!

Also... did you all know that Ron Paul was a track star in high school?

Okay, we just made a custom Ron Paul Revolution running shirt at www.runningbanana.com. With this image: http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/3761/ronpaulrevolutionlargebaw5.jpg. The short sleeve running shirts are $31. And it's really simple to create your custom shirt. Shipping is $5. Hope this is helpful!
