I think it would be a good idea to do something with the $500 dollar. Of course the campaign cannot be held responsible and cannot be expected to check every single donation. However this $500 dollar is worth a million dollar of air-time if donated to charity. The news-stations will have to cover that story and no-one will be able to say that Ron Paul is a white-supremacist anymore.

I would like to think what the general thought is about this on the forum, so I made a poll.

It was NewEnd's idea for the record:

KEEP THE MONEY.

It is insane that the media thinks he should have to screen all of his donors and only accept money from the ones who have a certain lifestyle. There is no reason to bow down to the pressures of some PC media bullshit.

On another note, Obama is a MEMBER at a BLACK NATIONALIST CHURCH. Yea you dont hear that in the media, do you?

This is not about he having to screen all of his donations, but now it's proven by the media, he has received that donation, it has become symbolic.

And he better uses that symbolic thing; he needs to do something with $500 dollar

There is no way he can screen all the folks that donate to his campaign. In light of this, I see this as a total none issue. Now if they could prove that the majority of his supporters were in fact life-time members of the KKK and that he was changing his platform in order to show favor to their ideals as racist...then the money would be a problem.

As it stands now, he has no way of research everyone's background and he does not support their ideals and has never given a hint in that direction that he would. I'm sorry, the racist lost his $500 if he was hoping for a Grand Dragon in Chief.

Ron Paul already handled this issue:

They tried to make it an issue, and got their asses handed to them. So it's done. Let's move on.

Dude, what are you talking about--he's a UCC (United Church of Christ) member. They are very political and progressively minded folks. My parents used to be members.

Like Ron Paul said, that money is already spent. To refund it means to take someone else's money and give it to a white supremacist.

It's over. Let it die.

you are right. it is not about screening the donations, it is about denying the validity of the argument. to return the money - especially since dr paul defended keeping the money - would be a total disaster. "symbolic" is just another word for "stupid".

Barack Obama says he has been deeply influenced by his church, Trinity UCC on Chicago's South Side, and its senior pastor, Jeremiah Wright.

Ron Paul's Answer should be: Do you expect the IRS to give the racist's taxes back??

He should, and will give Russert the same answer he gave Cavuto. He will because its the right answer.

Make sure he says it is his personal money and that he would gladly give $500 of his money to Mr. Black or give it to a charity. I am not sure that a candidate could give a $500 donation to a charity.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Blacks are trying to evolve the morals of their community and evolve the level of respect their community receives--and it is fair for them to do so. Minority groups in America tend to have cultural languages that make it difficult for them to feel completely absorbed by the mainstream culture. This is a major issue in education where black students often have a difficult time learning from dominator culture teachers.
