View Full Version : Urgent: Time to act - Giuliani taken to hospital with flu-like symptoms

I say we flood the hospital with flowers and cards first thing in the AM and show this, hmm..., under the weather politician, why Ron Paul supporters have the LOVE in our signs.

Anyone in agreement? He's in Missouri. Someone want to contact their meetup group?

Source: http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/12/20/giuliani.health/index.html

(CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was taken to a hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with flu-like symptoms and is spending the night there, a Giuliani spokesman confirmed to CNN early Thursday.

Rudy Giuliani's plane returned to the airport when his condition worsened after takeoff.

Giuliani -- who had been campaigning in Missouri on Wednesday -- became ill and then felt worse after his plane took off to return to New York.

He decided to return to the airport, consulted his personal physician, and then went to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where he was admitted.

Giuliani, who was treated for prostate cancer in 2000, told CNN in April that all of his subsequent medical screenings have been negative and that "for all intents and purposes, the cancer is cured."

"I'm very healthy now," he said. "But, of course, I get tested every six months, which you're supposed to do."

.

We could say something like...

Rudy,

Sorry to hear of your illness. Hoping that it's nothing serious and you'll be back on your feet soon.

Love, a caring Ron Paul supporter.

though.

It might make the news though,, since they probably will be covering it,,

If we can get the number of the hospital and figure out how to order flowers for his room it would be cool

Not if they come from the Hospital Gift Shop,,

this is a perfect opportunity.

for 10 Bucks you can buy 3 Carnations

or for 5 bucks you can send him a beanie baby bear.

Do we know his room number

just think if 300 people do this,

I know I'm being a Hypocrit in that I probably won't do this, because I really over did it for a college student on the 16th, but if you wanted to do it the Hospital gift shop might be the way to go,, assuming he's still in there.

Just imagine when Ron Paul is asked about this on air, "well yeah I heard some of our supporters did that. You know our supporters really do want the best for everyone in this nation whether they believe in our message or not".

Flu-like symptoms? Nothing too serious I hope.

If you're feeling sympathetic right now ...Dennis Kucinich's brother passed away recently (http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2007/12/dennis_kucinichs_52yearold_bro.html). He and his family would probably appreciate a few kind words too.

In all honesty, if Rudy gets a 10 page "Get Well Soon" card from RP supporters he will not think it's because we want to be nice. He will think we just want to torment him in his hospital bed. Get real. And its the friggin flu for god sake, not a heart attack.

Well hey, if you want to be nice to the guy that laughed repeatedly during RP's debate answers, demanded that RP retract his views on blowback, and essentially spearheaded a move to ban RP from debates, then go for it. In the end, it won't matter to anyone but you and Rudy....unless the media turns into an anthrax scare caused by RP supporters tormenting Rudy on his flu death bed.

This whole topic is a joke IMHO.

If you are genuinely concerned with his health and well-being, I would suggest contacting the hospital to leave him a message, send a card, send flowers, etc.

As a Ron Paul supporter, please don't send out anything with a blanket statement like "from Ron Paul supporters" or stuff like that. What would we expect to get out of it? Press? He's already declining in the polls - fairly quickly at that. "Flower bombs" have already been sent to Laura Ingram, Leno (who else - Glenn Beck?) and have those been effective?

If you care about making him feel better then do something of your own volition.

Why don't we let Paul speak for himself and not attribute his name to stuff he didn't do. Granted, this is a fairly minor thing but one or two people speaking for Ron Paul or the revolution in general is how we get ourselves into trouble.

How would we feel if some idiot nutjob committed an act of violence in the name of Ron Paul or for the Ron Paul Revolution. I don't think you'd feel like he represented you, would you? I wouldn't because he wouldn't be representing me. The same principle is operating here.

I think there is a difference between sending an email saying, "Get well" and shooting people.

I mind people using RP and the rest of us to send death threats to people and sending profanity laced emails to media types more than someone sending a half hearted 'get well soon' message.

But thats just me.

Uh, yeah, their is a huge difference between sending flowers and doing something like that. The distinction I'm making is that there is a principle at play and people should only speak for themselves instead of saying "hey, I'l going to go off and do 'xyz' and say the Ron Paul revolution supports it" when the Ron Paul revolution does not support it. It doesn't matter what "it" is.

With that said, I don't feel that strongly about it either way and I would encourage people to do what they feel is right. If people want to make Rudy feel better then they should be glad to do that individually.

If we want to send something to Rudy, why shouldn't we just sign our names to it instead of attributing it to Ron Paul?

I see your point.

I just think its more important to try to encourage our people to police themselves because about half our press coverage is about the rabid supporters angry, profanity laden emails.

There is a 99.999999% chance that if we do nice things in the name of the movement, that it would not even be picked up in the media at all. Thats not the story that they have attached to us and they tend to report things on the storyline that they have already decided on.

"McCain coming back."
"Huckabee the dark horse"
"Ron Paul supporters are conspiratorial fanatics"

If we donated a million dollars to charity, I bet they wouldn't even cover it.

No, bad idea. Every dollar spent on cards and flowers for Rudy is a dollar not spent on Ron Paul. We have a blimp that needs funding, TV commercials in IA and NH that need funding, print ads in targeted magazines that need funding. Forget Rudy.

why shouldn't we just sign our names to it instead of attributing it to Ron Paul?

Just so Rudy knows we miss him.

Its more of a joke than anything else. I put my name at the bottom, but put that I was a RP supporter so that he would know that we are still here. I don't think he can take a crap without a ron paul sign in the next stall.

[B]I say we flood the hospital with flowers and cards first thing in the AM and show this, hmm..., under the weather politician, why Ron Paul supporters have the LOVE in our signs.
.

Don't be ridiculous. The guy's a criminal.
