It's funny that Ron Paul is viewed as being weak on Global Warming when in reality he would probably have the most effective solution, "Let the states be in charge of it"

The EPA recently decided that states don't have the right to have stricter emissions than what the federal government decides.

In an evening conference call with reporters, Mr. Johnson defended his agency’s decision.

“The Bush administration is moving forward with a clear national solution, not a confusing patchwork of state rules,” he said. “I believe this is a better approach than if individual states were to act alone.”

So when 17 states said they wanted to have stricter emission rules, the federal government wouldn't let them do it.

Yes Ron Paul would have the perfect medicine for global warming. Give power back to the states.

The first thing I thought when I read this article was "Wow, before being introduced to Dr. Paul's message, I probably wouldn't have given second thought to the states rights issue..."

Now, it just pisses me off that the federal government is intervening in something like this. Bush may be working toward a "clear national solution," but I think it makes much more sense to have a "patchwork of state rules." Each state is different, and each state's citizens have different needs and different approaches to the problem. We should be governed locally as much as possible!

Exactly. Under this guys assumption, there almost shouldn't even be states. There should just be a big national one size fits all solution for the entire country which is of course ludicrous. That is exactly what they are doing here though.
