Well, the title goes to Vladimir Putin, but Ron Paul got a mention as a "Person who Mattered".

They call him an isolationist though, but at least they recognized his significance.

I just wrote a very polite letter to the editor with a correction: that he's a non-intervenionist, not an isolationist.

Stalin at one point as well, I believe.

As the introduction on time's site explains, "Person of the Year" is not about who's a great guy, it's about who had the largest effect on the world - including negative.

Having said that, I still don't think it should be Putin.

Rudy Giuliani was named in 2001.

George W. Bush was named in 2000 & 2004.


so it doesn't always go to a good person.
