Hi again ladies and gents,

I don't mean to postwhore, but I wanted to get some exposure for the Ron Paul sites I've been developing over the last month.

Ron Paul Stamps (http://www.ronpaulstamps.com) is a really simple website where you can purchase custom made self-inking stamps that look like this:

http://www.ronpaulstamps.com/images/misc/stamp_redoutline.jpg

They are intended to be stamped on all your dollar bills, which is a great way to spread the word about Ron Paul! This message is intended to stop the viewer and make them think.

This is what it looks like on a dollar bill:

http://www.ronpaulstamps.com/images/misc/printed_dollar_bill.jpg

It shows up much more vividly in person than in that picture.

If you guys want to do a group buy I'll be happy to give a discount. Shipping is the biggest expense, and if that can be combined it'll save money! There isn't much room to haggle since I'm selling these just over my cost, but I'll do what I can.

I would strongly urge NOT to do this, considering tampering with currency is ILLEGAL. Doing illegal things in the name of Ron Paul gives Ron Paul a bad name.

This activity has time and again been ruled as free speech, by the courts.

You are very wrong on this. I support these stamps as a good idea if it is something you would like to do. There are many ways to support Ron Paul and this is clearly one of them.

Sorry, you are incorrect here.

It is only illegal if it renders the currency unusable. This clearly DOES NOT.

Maybe I'll put a legality page on the site so people aren't scared.

dumb question: can these be refilled with ink?

This does NOT benefit the campaign nor make Dr. Paul look presidential. Don't do it.

Our local meetup has been writing this on our bills for months. Every time I hand a printed bill over to a cashier, they take note of what it says.

Please explain your position.

YES! Just use any water-based refill ink. I've seen it for sale at places like Staples.

Jennifer,

I responded via PM, but can we just let this be? Go to http://www.wheresgeorge.com and tell me why they have been able to do that for many years without hassle.

Defacing a bill would be mutilating, painting, or making it unusable in any way. In fact, you can tear a bill in half, but if you still have 51% of it left, you can use it.

How do you expect to get Ron Paul's name out without being different?

EDIT: I'm finding that the longer I'm on this forum, the more I see that it has an ugly side to it. On one hand, everyone here is very passionate about what they do, which is what makes us work. On the other hand, so many ideas that are mentioned here get scrutinized and shot down before they can help Ron Paul. Those people that worry about Ron Paul's image being tarnished by a silly little stamp on a bill or a "don't be a sheep" logo (among others), must not be looking at the overall picture.

How can you be concerned about the man's image if nobody knows about him yet? Its this negativity that hinders the grassroots efforts. UGH.

It isn't whether it's legal or makes the bill unusable, it's that the campaign disapproves.

Or will someone PLEASE call the campaign and ask them if they approve of this.

Again, you're looking to do everything by the book. The campaign is not infallible, and we know what we're doing. They cannot and SHOULD not be involved in every grassroots activity that goes on.

"Don't do this. It does not make Ron Paul look presidential"

Come on..Give me a break. You think people are think RP did this himself? People who get "turned off" by a stamp on a bill are the typical conformist sheep who would never vote for anyone other than the media annointed.

It's a great idea. Let's stop being on the defensive and have some balls.

My thoughts exactly.

I think this could be viewed in both ways. Not stamping it could either mean him getting known or not, but then again, stamping money that people are going to have to carry around may give him a bad name in that right.

A couple of people COULD foreseeably get pissed by this. Just imagine how many people would be pissed if Rudy Giuliani 2008 was wrote on every dollar, and multiply that by 4. Also if we start to do this, pretty much every other candidate is going to start doing it, and then it will basically be a pissing contest with money that people use.

But I really can't personally condemn it either way. I do know that this is going to piss off a number of people though.

I think it's a great idea. People are always looking at their money. The first time i saw the "where's George" stamp on a bill i went right to the web and looked it up.

Very nice. I'll probably end up ordering one.

Do you know approximately how long it will take to receive it? (I'm in Cali.)

Thanks!

*shrugs* people may like the personal touch. I'd scowl at it were it in my hands.
