Goons don't like Ron Paul because he's popular on the Internet. If something is popular on the Internet, Goons will pick it apart and end up hating it. Case & Point: There was once a giant thread dedicated to Ron Paul that started out very positive but as he got more and more popular the hate started and took over. That's what happens over there.

a lot of people outside of the "Debate and Discussion" forum do support RP,

a lot support him but won't voice it because SA is a counter-culture, so, like mentioned in some posts above if it's cool on the internet, its automatically "not cool" on somethingawful dot com.
