They want it to seem like its completely normal for Ron Paul to say something like this. And if they spin it JUST right, it will certainly come a crossed as negative.

Or maybe they just don't want to give him coverage PERIOD. Hard to pick.

He just said it this morning. Give them a day or two to react...

I definetly think glenn beck and tim russert will talk to Ron about it. O'Reilly might pick up on it. Give it a little bit of time. RP is getting some attention from the press now...we should be happy!

They're ignoring the comment b/c then they'd have to invite RP on their programs to respond.

We should send them this vid before any interview.

They can not spin it without people pointing out they have taken Dr. Paul out of context. His remarks were toward using symbolism such as crosses and trying to use religion in a Presidential race.

He then made his statement, not directed at Huckelbee per se, but the method he used in the comercial.

It was brilliant on Dr. Paul's part, and will have people talking, they know that. They can not spin it otherwise, and they know that. That is why they will ignore it now.

It was not ignored. The host made a comment on it, and we now have a story in USA Today about it. It was also covered by Drudge.

Probably don't want to create a frenzy, because it will only add to Dr. Paul's face time.

just my two cents, but I thought it was pretty messed up that they invite Ron on the show and then say "let's check out this Mike Huckabee ad..." I'm glad Ron slammed them & Huckabee, especially because it was the truth and it shows that he reads classic stuff :D. I've already seen a few blogs whose writers are simply impressed that any Presidential Candidate is quoting Sinclair Lewis on the spot. GO RON!

It won't be ignored. Beck i'm sure will mention it. Tucker will bring it up at some point. And the fact that Fox news invited RP on, started by talking about Huckabee, and then both FOX news and Huckabee got ripped apart with one line from Ron Paul in front of a national viewing audience was priceless.

i don't think they ignored it so far, and i expect it to come up over and over again.

whether it's good or bad solely depends on the integrity of the news organizations, and whether they decide to take it out of context.

Beck's not a live show, so the Beck interview may already be in the can.

This story is getting attention. Just wait it out, Ron Paul will get his time to shine. If it's being quoted on Drudge (http://www.drudgereport.com), you can bet other outlets are going to pick this up.

No, i am CERTAIN that all day tomorrow on fox on that little bottom "question bar" they will have something like =

"Ron Paul thinks celebrating christmas is fascist?"

or

"Ron Paul hates Jews and Christians?"

or

"Voting for Ron Paul will also make you a fascist?"

I heard Rush play the sound bite towards the end his show. He basically chuckled Ron Paul was calling Huckelbee a fascist, and comforted his call screener that "It's the end of the show, you won't have to deal with all those Ron Paul supporters" :)

It actually is all over the wire. Mostly good, of course the boys, and I do mean boys, over at RedState and Free Republic are having fun mentally masturbating over this. Must be nice to be blissfully ignorant.

reagan republicans and goldwater republicans of old thrive on that kind of talk. the whole reagan movement was based on fear of totalitarian socialism rising in america(apparently a reasonable one)

so i dont think they want to broadcast it.

Yeah, you know that a vein popped in Billo's head when he heard it. He's gonna go on another "War on Christmas" delusional freak-out rant all over his "spin factor zone" tonight. :D

I wish Ron's "fascist" comment would have turned into a big deal... Then news and talk shows would be forced to get Ron on to ask him about it, and he'd get a chance to explain it. Ron's comment was absolutely right--Huckabee is the biggest statist and the most disrespectful of the Constitution of any Republican running. He would be the ultimate death of the Republic, wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

Ron's comment was absolutely right--Huckabee is the biggest statist and the most disrespectful of the Constitution of any Republican running. He would be the ultimate death of the Republic, wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

I just heard Rush Limbaugh mention Ron's statement. He even played an audio clip of it.

Rush was angry, "is he calling Huckabee a fascist?". No, after he quoted Sinclair Lewis (a MN native, by the way), Ron said he didn't know if that was a fair assessment. Here is the full quote:
"Well, I haven't thought about it completely, but you know, it reminds me what Sinclair Lewis once said, he said when fascism comes to this country, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross. And I don't know whether that is a fair assessment or not, but you wonder about using a cross like he is the only Christian, or implying that subtly, so I don't think I would ever use anything like that."

Rush then complained about all the Ron Paul callers. He supposedly wants calls from liberals, but Ron Paul is too much for him to handle.
