I could see Ron asking Jim Sinclair (www.jsmineset.com is his free blog) to be the Treasury Secretary.

Jim was on the short list to be under Nixon many years ago but didn't accept/wasn't selected.

Jim is a HUGE advocate of Gold as he understands that it is more of a currency than a commodity. He has run hedge funds in the past and is well respected in the financial markets.

He's currently CEO of a public company (Tanzanian Royalty Explorations) but he could be a possible guy.

Here was his (transcript) speach at a recent AMEX luncheon. Notice what he thinks is going on with the dollar and where Gold will go (and when)

Here is a link to hear it live: http://origin.vcall.com/CustomEvent/conferences/AMEX/041107/day1.htm (12:00 - Tanazania Royalty)

IMO, it will HAVE to be someone WELL versed in Gold...an there aren't many out there with impressive resumes that are American Citizens.

That alone ought to disqualify him!

I nominate Jerry O'Driscoll (http://www.mises.org/studyguide.aspx?action=author&Id=147). Author of one of the most important "new" Austrian books, experience at the Fed, with a large money center bank, with think tanks and a personal friend of Dr. Paul and his office.

IT has to be someone related to the Mises Institute or someone who follows Austrian economics.

Mark Thornton should definitely be involved is some form or fashion.

Joseph Salerno is also a smart mind.

I've read Sinclair off and on for many years. He's not exactly cabinet material IMO.

If we're going to go that route we could go all the way and appoint the Mogambo.

Interestingly, Ron was asked in the interview below to speculate about some of the kinds of people he might consider for cabinet positions.

Future Government|Cabinet positions|Corporatism vs.Free Market|Health Care|Valid Governmental Responsibilities in Free Markets|National Defense vs. Individual Liberties|No Energy Policy

He mentioned a few possible names, most not for specific positions, but for the type of position (for example-economic position). He did specifically mention that James Grant (free market economist) would be a good Secretary of Treasury, though.
