Slashdot is generally a pillar of ignorance. Some very tech smart geeks in there, and a few honest to goodness intellectuals. However, searching a forest of stupid to find one tree with a brain isn't my idea of a good time.

They worship Stallman that is socialist to the core. There are a FEW libertarian minded people there that are more the BSD type than the GNU type

But not everyone reading these comments is close minded.

I cant tell you how many times I have formed opinions on specific issues by reading forum comments to get to know the issue better.

Presenting a logical polite and well structured response can only be beneficial...

Actually I find many on SlashDot to be left/libertarians.

Yup, Slashdot is actually where I first learned about libertarianism about 5 years ago!

That's not exactly an accurate reflection (poll), but yes libertarianism is definitely popular over there. I form some opinions from reading comments there often.
