Fact problem here: Ron's CASH ON HAND is supposedly $2.4M. However, they compare that to Obama and Giuliani's TOTAL CONTRIBUTIONS, not CASH ON HAND. Obama and Giuliani both have OUTSTANDING DEBTS that are not factored into their reported $20M+ in contributions. Also, it doesn't matter if McCain gets $11M+ in Q2, if he spends $10M+!!! He'll go broke in no time!!

Hmmm...and what about Gilmore, Tommy Thompson, Huckabee, Brownback, and Tancreado's contributions???

Oh!! Since they really only wrote this to slam Ron Paul, rather than actually discuss the overall race and the issues, obviously comparing Ron Paul's contributions from everyday people to the contributions given to Obama, Clinton, and Giuliani, is not a fair one.

A previous thread suggested we compare to the "number of donors" and see how many gave to Ron as compared to the other candidates. I think this would be a better way of measuring at this point in the game.

I've already seen a CHB article (hosted on freerepublic's website, since CHB loves deleting their nonsense after they're exposed) where they pledge to never again use anonymous sources. Ooops.

Thompson's 3 latest pieces confirm that he has no integrity. Apparently he has been working less on CHB to have a "real job" in "local journalism." He should be disqualified from having a paid job in the profession.

This is good news, they're only attacking us because they're afraid of us. In politics, when people start attacking you, that means you've gotten on their radar.

Besides, in the grand sceme of things, how many people are actually going to read this article? And it's all obvious lies and misrepresentations, so I doubt that anybody who knows anything about the issues is going to be using this article in any arguments.

Apparently Doug Thompson is backpedaling.

I think this is an act of desperation, and disingenuous. Thompson (or his "ID") was actively commenting (and engaging in back and forth discussion) in the comment section of one of these anonymous articles. He's used almost identical language in the past, and I think this time he just realized he crossed a line.

I'm going to follow up on this.

Does that excuse his conduct? He was repeatedly libeling Ron Paul and engaging in an affront to journalism and decency.

I fail to see how him "signing up" or addressing anyone -- in and of itself -- resolves anything. I'm not writing as a Paul supporter, I'm writing as a student of journalism and ethics. Conduct like his should be exposed. The fact that he removed the articles (thus hiding his misconduct) doesn't do much for me.

It's plain to me that his retraction and apparent sincerity is deserving of the benefit of a doubt.
