Getting on polling lists

Does anyone know how long it takes to get on a polling list?

For example, if I was a registered Democrat, but on Monday, July 2, I registered as a Republican. Does anyone know when I would first appear on random polling lists?

All the national polls cite Republican and likely Republican voters. But they have to get those people from some sort of list. But how soon would a former Democrat appear on such a list?

The reason I ask is that most of the voters switching to Republican so they can vote for Ron Paul in the Primary happened after the first debate. Of course, that was a couple months ago now, but still, if it takes months to change polling lists, FOX, and CNN, and MSNBC, etc., won't have changed polling for Ron Paul for a while yet.
