FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Jesse Benton

December 17, 2007 703-248-9115

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Congressman Ron Paul’s presidential campaign had a record fundraising day yesterday.

In a 24-hour period on December 16, the campaign raised $6.026 million dollars, surpassing the one-day record of $5.7 million held by John Kerry.

During the day, over 58,000 people contributed to Dr. Paul’s campaign, including 24,940 first-time donors. Over 118,000 Americans have donated to the campaign in the fourth quarter.

The $6 million one-day total means the campaign has raised over $18 million this quarter, far exceeding its goal of $12 million.

“We have the right message: freedom, peace and prosperity,” said Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “We also have the right candidate: Dr. Ron Paul.”

Congressman Paul will be campaigning in Iowa today hold including a press conference at 12:45 pm at the Des Moines Marriott in the Des Moines Room.

I think you can tell from the way this is worded, that the HQ will be more assertive in debunking the Hillary numbers and sticking with a comparison to Kerry.

BeFranklin

They need to say something like the all time record held by Kerry after he was already nominated in the general election.
Then they need to say this was raised before the primaries even start,
and Ron Paul is the only Republican Candidate that can win this election.

Should be obvious if you state it.

What would be funny is if the campaign laid out the numbers and then said that we DIDN'T beat Kerry's number when adjusting for inflation ;). Two birds, one stone. And you know the media would unwittingly transmit that out without thinking because it's 'negative' to Dr. Paul :D

Needs to say Kerry raised the previous all time record after he was already nominated in the general election, and that this shows Ron Paul is the only Republican Candidate who can win this election.

In fact, be a lot more vocal about that part, and maybe we can just remove a few of the hanger ons right now.

We beat that record to, if you count the same things she counted. If it wasn't just made up entirely. Kerry is the real record, and since that was after he was nominated, this looks *real* good. Needs to be told.

$200,000 from Hillary's total. Damn. And you know her record will still be tooted in the Media as legitimate.

If you need tools to debunk this claim, just watch the official campaign's post-November 5th press conference:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYk8UFSBPew

As you can see from their press conference scheduled for tomorrow, they are taking the position that it is non-existent, and they are painting the picture as John Kerry's $5.7 million being the single day record to beat.

Nah.

If that comes up again, the campaign will debunk it at the press conference like they did post November 5th:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYk8UFSBPew

HQ is on top of this, and they are writing the story as John Kerry holding the only credible single day record, and we beat it.

So since we are taking control of the story from the get go, Hillary's alleged number will be a non-issue in the mainstream coverage.

And Hillary certainly isn't going to come out and dispute it. She's not even going to acknowledge Ron Paul.

The issue is that there were about $400,000 in offline donations added at about 10:30 PM EST. And the official campaign is saying that they were from last week and do not count toward today's single day record.

But they probably wanted to get them in there anyhow, so that the total for the quarter will be as high as possible for press coverage tomorrow.

I wish they did, but you know, we have to leave this to the discretion of the official campaign.

$6.026 million is the number they want to run with, and as far as they are concerned, there is no Hillary record to beat, because they debunked it in the post-November 5th press conference:

We definitely have to keep the money flowing.. whether or not we do another money bomb I'm not sure. I think though that tomorrow we should try to get a good amount of donations in to top off our money bomb. The same happened after Nov. 5th and we should try to make it larger this time. I think the main reason it happens is because a small percentage forget about the date but this time there is another reason. At 11:30 approximately Ronpaul2008.com crashed due to having more donors per minute than EVER before (even more than the start of the money bomb). It was down about 40 minutes and didn't come up until way after 12. I think many of those last minute donors that the chart showed donating late were unable to donate since the site crashed due to massive traffic. I could not load it at all. Many likely went to sleep (Work tomorrow) and will plan to donate tomorrow instead in hope it will be running then. In other words I think because of the crash there is a significant amount of people who are yet to donate as well as the few who forgot. Tomorrow we should attempt to make a big day as well if you can spare it and have not maxed out.

it will be counted, the important part is we broke the record for one day fundraising. its easier to just go with the online donations in the old media. they'll screw it up anyway. they're still screwing up the total for 11/5 and they're gonna screw this one up too. just so long as we are now the record holders, I'm content.

Well if this is correct only 6,025,000.00 then the widget is wrong still has +400k extra added on.

Still a remarkable number.

Correct, Why does the widget say differently. Good point.

$200,000 from Hillary's total. Damn. And you know her record will still be tooted in the Media as legitimate.

Personally, I think we should stop going along with the media's made-up figures and expose this for what it really is: A one-day fundraising record!!

Quit playing their game. They make the rules to their game and will always win. We have enough support, that we can override their rules!

Enough is enough! It was a cool goal to set for ourselves, to beat Hillary's fake fundraising statistics, but this ISN'T A LOSS! In the real world of Federal Election laws and records of donations, we just hit "TILT" on the machine!

And, while I don't expect the media to accurately report the facts, we should and need to every opportunity we can.

This is all... :D

Correct, Why does the widget say differently. Good point.

Personally i think the widget is correct and we really raised 6,430,000.00 instead of 6,029,000.00. But the media likes rounded numbers so they would just end saying 6 million either way.

a little modesty never hurts. We all know the truth. The MSM types always round our numbers down anyway. Even if it was 6.9Million, they would just call it 6. A little modesty is respectable.

Why does it matter if we beat Hillary's record or not? We had a ridiculously huge day regardless. If we even came close to Hillary, who some think already has the presidency locked up, doesn't that mean that Ron Paul is a legitimate contender?

The hillary figure is bogus. She won't touch it with a ten foot poll now. MSM probably won't mention it on account of any serious investigation (into the overtly public FEC filings) will be bad for their anointed one.

Remember only a year or less ago when the MSM were boggling about how "the blog-o-sphere" often broke news before traditional media, and they were speculating about the future of media? Now that they can really see how "new media" can carry the power of the people, that talk has disappeared. They are afraid. very afraid. 8-D

Today was a great day but we definitely have to keep the money flowing.. (look what we're up against) whether or not we do another money bomb I'm not sure. I think though that tomorrow we should try to get a good amount of donations in to top off our money bomb. The same happened after Nov. 5th and we should try to make it larger this time. I think the main reason it happens is some people forget about the date but this time there is another reason. In other words I think because of the crash there is a significant amount of people who are yet to donate. Tomorrow we should attempt to make a big day as well if you can spare it and have not maxed out.
