* URGENT! *

Just a minute ago, someone called in to C-SPAN asking why they
broadcast the Iowa Forum on the 4th and didn't broadcast Ron Paul's
event. Then asked when they would broadcast the video of Ron Paul.
The announcer said she didn't know, but would find out. A second
later she said "I'm told it's because we don't have the video".

WE CAN FIX THIS!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

David, or whoever else has video of the Iowa event - PLEASE contact
C-SPAN and offer your video for broadcast!

There have been many pro-Ron Paul callers on this morning.

thanks,

Nathan

Did anyone get a QUALITY video of it? No offense but most i've seen are shakey hand-cam vids. that's fine for me and for YouTube but professional news orgs will probably frown on it. Next time at least bring a tri-pod!

In the YouTube vids, you can see there was a professional camera setup on a pedastal right inline with the podium to record the entire event.

If anyone knows who that was (possibly the Ron Paul HQ themselves), please let them know.

We need this on C-Span!!

T'hat's what I was going to say. Some of the videos are the best quality. I think it's largely a problem with the audio quality, though. I have watched one recording of it that had pretty decent sound quality, though. Did no one there do a "professional" quality video? Seems like someone would have.

It seems Bill from the Ron Paul campaign is working diligently cutting up the video for official release to C-Span!!!

This is the best one I have seen. The quality would be better than shown here. You lose quality when you download to google or YouTube.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4530377301524522863&q=Ron+Paul+Iowa+duration%3Along&total=7&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

Also, some of the march to the rally should be sent I think.

Would probably be good to contact RedStateEclectic.com or LewRockwell.com as they would have the uncompressed footage.

I hope this is really happening. When I talked to C-Span this morning, the woman I talked to said they would not accept video from the campaign. She said it was against C-Span's policy.

Well I have no problem giving my source tapes to someone for a legitimate purpose, but I was under the impression that C-Span was there?

As for tripods, my video is shaky, because my sole purpose really was to get crowd shots while I was there. There were already plenty of people set up to record the speech. Plus, they were rebroadcasting the whole thing through the projector they had in house so I'm assuming someone has the full speech on high quality video.

So they don't air it because they don't have video, and they don't have video because they were not there (but they were next door, does anybody believe they didn't know about it?).

C-Span is (almost) just as bad as the rest.

I think HQ has a videographer who might have filmed the event. Maybe if they themselves don't send it in (because of C-Span's "policy") and someone else does...

Well, the woman I talked to could have been wrong. If HQ is working on it, they must know better.

Greetings Nathan,

I contacted RonPaulVideoGuy on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=RonPaulVideoGuy (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=RonPaulVideoGuy)

and gave him this post and asked him to get involved in the C-Span effort.

He provided an MP3 audio file to me earlier in the week and was very responsive to my request. His audio is now posted at www.ronpaulaudio and was the best that I was able to get of the Iowa rally.

His camera appeared steady to me...though I did not watch his entire video.

We really would like to see this happen and a big THANKYOU for posting the idea!!

I am flattered that you think C-SPAN would be interested in airing my video of Ron Paul's Celebration of Life and Liberty in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 30, 2007. I would be willing to make my source videotapes available to C-SPAN, however I don't think the videos will be up to their standards. My purpose in shooting the videos was to make some Ron Paul video's for posting on YouTube so others who couldn't make it would be able to see what went on. I did some crazy panning around and quick zooms and pans to catch crowd reactions and so forth. This is the kind of thing that would make television audiences sick to their stomach, but was okay for my purposes. The other problem is the audio. It was held in a large hall with concrete floors so there is terrible echo. If I was shooting for C-SPAN I would get a direct mic feed, rather than use a camera-mounted mic. The speech lasted about 1 hour and 5 minutes, and the mini-DV tapes that I used only went an hour so I had to switch tapes right near the end, missing a few words. My suggestion, if C-SPAN is really interested in airing the speech, would be to gather videos from the several cameras that were present and to post-produce a video that would combine the best video from all sources. There was another videographer there who gathered a list of all of the people shooting videos in case of something like this; unfortunately I never got his name.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

RonPaulVideoGuy

I'm sure there is enough talent in the RP community to take the best shots, clean up the audio, and create something presentable.

hi,
is it possible to make the source footage available at full quality as a bit torrent file that can be downloaded? i think your footage looks quite excellent. many people (including myself) could do more work with this footage. i dont think the echo from the room is that bad. the video is very clear and the shot close to his face so you can read his lips. this makes the audio more intelligible.great work btw. thank you for
shooting the event.

electric

Don't think these are C-SPAN quality, but I was late getting them uploaded. I don't have the entire speech, my batteries and tape supply ran out before the end. I did get video of the motivational lead up to Dr. Paul speaking tho...including both National Anthems.

I call bullshit on that. If C-SPAN's crew had a camera failure, do you think they'd accept film from a local TV affiliate? DUH.

If we can present them will a well edited and groomed RP video, they have no REAL excuse.

Even if C-SPAN never can be convinced, it may be worth having this video anyway. Someone will want it for the documentary of how RP came outta nowhere and took the presidency! ;)

INteresting that radio talk show host Neil Savage seems to have an issue with C-SPan too.

Savage, who received the Talkers Magazine Freedom of Speech Award at the convention, alleged that C-SPAN was trying to "censor" him, because it ended its coverage of the event before he delivered his acceptance speech.

My husband said that the award was the culmination of the event. Lots of people made speeches leading up to the presentation, but when it was time for him to get the award, they ended their coverage.

CSpan is no different than the other news channels in that they are NOTHING MORE than a mouthpiece for the gov't.

They dress themselves up as different but they are NOT different.

They know who they're supposed to censor and that's who they censor.
