This was from the meetup board, but haven't heard from anywhere else if this official. If this is true, this is very good news where he can clarify his positions. I'm glad we kept it professional, as any open dialogue will be in RPs favor. This is from the GOP chair of SC that blocked him out. We may want to thank him as well, because I believe this could be a grand slam in our favor.

Ron Paul must take him up on this.

FOLKS:

"I certainly appreciate the HUGE number of e-mails from about 8AM yesterday
until 9AM today. I also received a significant number of calls to our Party
HQ! I can easily see that is has been a nation-wide effort to contact me.
Some of you seem to already know me, through family members or my education
background! I thank you for your sincere comments!

I attempted to response to as many as I could before we had our 4th of
July celebration at my home!

Most of your comments were polite and well articulated! Positive dialogue
is very important to all concerned.

As the GOP Chairman of Spartanburg County (since 1999), we have managed to
be the most "high-profile" County GOP organization in the SC! We have
succeeded at the ballot every election cycle over the past 10 years (even in
2006). Since, SC is a early primary state, we are fortunate to receive a
vast amount of national attention. This job is a VOLUNTEER job and many
times takes away from my paying job. (Foodservice equipment manufacturer)

We have had potential or actual 2008 GOP Presidential candidates coming to
our County since February 2005. Many of them SEVERAL times! We have
actually met 9 of the 11 current candidates and two (Frist and Pataki) who
decided not to run! We have shown all of them a FIRST CLASS welcome!

The remaining two (Tommy Thompson and Ron Paul) have not been here even
one time. Since the UPSTATE of SC is the key to the nomination, we are
puzzled! We did contact both of these campaigns and the Thompson campaign
advised us that they were concentrating on Iowa and not to expect them
except for the May debate!

WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE PAUL campaign numerous with NO RESPONSE. Our
neighbors in Greenville were equally frustrated! We have had huge public
events including a caucus night where we had a LIVE straw poll on "Hannity
and Colmes" 03/01/07). We had no support for Ron Paul.

We then had our County Convention on 04/21/07 and had no response from
the Paul campaign although 7 candidates did come and make a presentation!

The first that MOST of us had any contact with Dr. Paul was at the State
Debate on May 17th.

AND:

What we heard was a complete "slam" at the current administration and
blaming US for the 9/11 horrific acts!
This type of RHETORIC cannot be tolerated! Many of our local activists
called me also during the "wild 4th" and complemented me on my most candid
and accurate comments in the SHJ!

HOWEVER:

Many of YOU felt as if.....WE had completely MISUNDERSTOOD the
comments........

IF SO......we have an opportunity for all of YOU and the NATION as a WHOLE!

CHALLENGE:

We, the Spartanburg County GOP will hold a low cost event (cover charge)
for attendees to have a PUBLIC Q&A with DR. PAUL here in Spartanburg, SC.
NO OTHER CANDIDATES!!
THIS WILL BE YOUR TIME to convince us that have incorrect information
about Dr. Paul's political platform!
This will cost your campaign 0 dollars....except for the cost to get Dr.
Paul to Spartanburg and if any overnight accommodations are needed!

FORMAT:

10 minute opening presentation by Dr. Paul

12 questions from the audience (to be pre-screened by us and your campaign)

Meet and greet

Total: one hour

We would expect huge media coverage as we have gotten plenty of attention
for our prior events and our electorate is a "microcosm" of the RED states!

One stipulation.....we need to do this BEFORE AUGUST 15th.....after that
we have many pre-planned events to include multiple candidates."

Wow. Big news. It's amazing what you can see when you look through other peoples perception.

This is great... lets get the train moving!!! :)

Please, someone get ahold of headquarters and get them to take this opportunity to shine! This is the east coast people! The turnout we get in South Carolina could double or triple the turnout we got in Iowa due to the higher areas of population. I'm in WV, but if they do this and give me enough time to request off....I'm there!

Ask headquarters to request that this take place on the weekend! I'm sure it would help more people get there.

has anyone emailed this to Joe at HQ yet?

We need to do more than email. They might not see it for weeks, since they are getting ready for the big move.

Someone had better call.

Excellent news, and good job everyone for keeping it very professional. Winning people over with politeness and logic is always the best policy :)

Lets get Ron Paul to South Carolina!!

It’s real alright.

I’ve got a copy of the reply in my inbox.

Remember that Mr. Beltram had originally refused to extend an invitation.

If this isn’t an invitation, then I don’t know what is.

Good job people.

Mr. Beltram HAS NOT ISSUED AN INVITATION TO DR PAUL.

An email to supporters is not the same as an invitation to Dr. Paul.

Here is what I posted in the other thread:

I contacted campaign HQ to let them know about Rick Beltram's email "invitation" to Dr. Paul.

Be advised: an email to supporters is NOT a formal invitation.

UNTIL RICK BELTRAM ISSUES A FORMAL INVITATION TO THE CAMPAIGN, NO INVITATION HAS BEEN ISSUED.

UNTIL A FORMAL INVITATION IS RECEIVED, THE CAMPAIGN CANNOT RESPOND.

I attempted to contact Mr. Beltram to make sure he is aware of this (which of COURSE as a long time GOP chair for that county, he IS aware of this), however - Rick is no longer answering his phone.

I then contacted the SC GOP Communications Director Rob Godfrey. Mr. Godfrey stated that he is aware that Mr. Beltram wrote the email, and was also aware that Mr. Beltram did not issue a formal invitation to Dr. Paul's campaign. Mr. Godfrey also stated that he IS aware that until Mr. Beltram does so, the campaign is NOT invited.

So, regardless of the email Rick Beltram sent out this morning, NO OFFICIAL INVITATION has been issued.

When I asked if he could pass on the appropriate address for issuing the OFFICIAL INVITATION to Mr. Beltram, Mr. Godfrey told me I would need to speak directly with Rick.

and when i sent justine lam a happy birthday email she responded within like 3 minutes...i think it depends on what is in the subject line

Well then, it sounds like we need to go back to Mr. Beltram, yet again, and ask him to make an official invitation to Ron Paul's campaign.

ONE MORE TIME, EVERYONE!

LibertyEagle, do you REALLY think Rick Beltram has the courage to issue a formal invite?

Come on, as he bragged in his email - he's been county chair for a few years.

He knows that an email to supporters is not an invitation.

He's playing the RP supporters with that email and nothing more.

It may not be a strictly formal invitation, but lets be pragmatic. HQ should take up this offer/invitation. There is nothing to gain from not attending.

Yes, I know, but we can make it clear, in a nice way, that we know what is going on and ask him to issue a formal invitation to the campaign, so this thing can happen.

Dig the Lew Rockwell Blog posting

http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Beltram_Backs_Down/blog

on the note and keep his "invite" in the public eye until it's official. Plain old public pressure to do what he said he would do will force the issue.

Liberty Eagle just posted this on another thread!!!

I just had a little conversation with Mr. Beltram on his cell phone.

He said he needed to hear from the campaign. I said it seemed like he need to offer a formal invitation to them and I asked him if he would do so. He promised he would and would send off an email within the next 5 minutes and would followup with a call to their HQ this afternoon. He asked for names of campaign people, email addresses and phone numbers.

All I had to give him was the general email address and the general phone number. I gave him the names of Kent Snyder, Jesse Benton and Lew Moore.

So, let's see what happens next.

I was assuming those people really weren't Ed Failor and Rick Beltram. Surely you jest.

Guys, I'm SLIGHTLY worried about this, because Mr. Beltram (or someone using his name) has been posting on the Fred Thompson forums as late as LAST NIGHT talking about censoring and 'taking care of' Dr Paul.

Read his remarks in these two threads, the latter of which also has a post from Ed Failor I believe (Ed and Rick seem to be the only two active members of Fred's forums)

http://www.fredthompsonforum.com/showthread.php?t=14
"Don't worry, we have perfectly legal ways of dealing with thrash like paul. He will not even be allowed in the debates soon. No Debates, continue the media blackout, and before you know it Ron Paul will be all forgoten about." - R. Beltram

and

http://fredthompsonforum.com/showthread.php?t=29
"Rules? rules what? The 911 insane asylum? The guys an asshole who thinks government policy caused 911. He's a nutjob!

No need to even talk about him. He is a nobody who is just trying to confuse the issues."

I don't mean to be alarming but... could this be some sort of elaborate trap? It should definitely be entered into with CAUTION.

I don't know anything about Ed or Rick to be honest, I was never even involved with politics until this campaign. That forum looks like it's getting covertly trolled pretty damn hard, but who knows?

Yeah, I deleted my post, I was taking that forum to be much more honest than it actually is. It seems that the Rick Beltram character, Ed Failor, and Neocon4Fred are all trolls, probably all in support of Ron Paul.

Maybe someone should inform Mr. Beltram that someone is using his name to post inflamatory comments on the FT board.

If it isn't him, then he would probably appreciate knowing so that he could get the comments removed. If they are not removed then that'll tell us something.

I didn't go over to read there until after I had spoken with Beltram personally earlier today. (BEFORE he sent out the email to those who had emailed him and conveniently NOT to the campaign HQ to make his "invite" a REAL AND FORMAL INVITE, lol).

Last night someone commented somewhere that Beltram at that FT forum had QUITE the potty mouth. I read there this morning but didn't see any potty mouth comments.

I wonder if it really IS Rick B and he cleaned up his language out of fear someone might stumble upon it and make others in his county aware of it?
