To those interested, I humbly offer an e-mail that I sent to friends today, which grew into a nice post that I then put on my website. It is both an appeal to donate and serves as a nice introduction to Ron Paul and many of the pressing issues of the day. The post can be found at:

The full text of the post follows. I sent this as an e-mail to friends.

Hello friends,

Today is another special day in the new revolution to take back control of our republic from the bankers, oil barons and empire builders who have usurped the people's right to self-governance and drive the country toward inevitable financial and cultural ruin. We are attempting to raise more money in one day for a political candidate than has ever been raised in the history of the nation. I have read that John Kerry raised $5.7 million on the day he announced his candidacy. In November we raised $4.3 million in one day for Dr. Paul, and the goal today is $10 million. It is 10:00am in New York as I write this and I see that we have already raised nearly $2 million for the day.

Not only are the funds needed for the usual campaign expenses, but the news of such an event is needed to convince the Americans who often withhold support until they feel that a candidate has broad support and a chance to win. Ron Paul has that support and has an excellent chance to win. Don't look to the mainstream media for proof of this, as they have long ago been corrupted by the same corporate forces that strongly oppose this new people's revolution and how a Ron Paul presidency would upset their plans for us to serve them. Change is in the air and it won't come from the usual suspects bearing false promises of peace and prosperity. Americans are finally beginning to judge politicians by their actions and not their words. This is one of the many reasons so many millions of people are now lining themselves up behind Dr. Paul. In twenty years as a federal politician his voting record has never once wavered from his spoken commitments. I will list below, for those who care to know more, a few highlights of Dr. Paul's priorities and beliefs.

You are, of course, encouraged to donate today, but also feel free to follow the progress at the campaign home page. There is an active, real-time total displayed on the front page. Note that this is a quarterly total and that the campaign ended the 15th with a total of approximately $11,500,000 so you must subtract this amount out to calculate today's new contributions.

in peace,

p.s. the campaign has raised a million dollars in the hour it took me to write this.

Priority Issues of a Ron Paul Presidency

End the Wars, bring the troops home
Ron Paul will end the U.S. occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan immediately and will bring the soldiers home. He will see that their medical needs are attended to. He will cancel the contracts given to the Halliburtons of the world who have committed grave acts of fraud against America bringing the country to the verge of financial ruin.

Bring an end to Empire Building
Most Americans are unaware that they pay to support the construction, staffing and maintenance of over 700 U.S. military bases on foreign soil in over 130 countries in the world. The presence of these bases is almost always opposed by the people of these countries (though not always by their politicians, who benefit financially from this arrangement). Every empire in history, without exception, has collapsed under the financial burden of maintaining and growing itself. One trillion dollars a year is spent on this endeavor, money that could be used at home in better ways.

End the Income Tax and close the IRS
Setting aside the fact that the income tax is in violation of constitutional law, Dr. Paul intends to end the income tax and replace it with nothing (other candidates offer a flat tax that will actually increase taxes paid by lower and middle class Americans). Somewhere around a quarter of the federal budget is funded by the tax on our earnings. Eliminating this tax would return the size of the federal budget to about it's 1997 level. Money saved from the above two issues, as well as some that follow, (ending the wars and empire building, ending corporate subsidies, etc.) is more than enough to cover the complete elimination of the income tax on wages with money to spare to fully fund social security and health care commitments made to the elderly, and to balance the federal budget.

End the Money Monopoly of the Federal Reserve System
Americans are waking up to the massive fraud against this country and world that is the Federal Reserve System. It is neither federal, nor does it any longer have gold reserves, nor is it a system. It is a private bank owned indirectly via a deceptive structure by the wealthiest handful of banking families of Europe and America. It has become the true power center of the American economy. It is a for-profit corporation that manipulates the money supply, interest rates and fractional lending allowances for the sole purpose of enriching shareholders at the expense of all the people of the world. Inflation is a hidden tax which has cumulatively transfered trillions of dollars earned by the labor of the people directly into the pockets of these same banking families while enriching their elite corporate associates along the way. In 1913, again through deceptive means, the Federal Reserve System was created and granted a money supply monopoly. Ron Paul would end this monopoly and would allow competing currencies, especially those backed by real money, such as gold and silver, to co-exist with the debased and devalued federal reserve notes that, today, we are required to use by this unjust and unconstitutional law.

End Corporate Welfare and Subsidies
Now that large, profitable, multinational corporations control the decision makers in federal politics, they are able to grant themselves literally hundreds of billions of dollars each year of the value created by the people to themselves for no other reason than because they can and it makes them even more profitable. This is done several ways, via grants, subsidies, tax credits, tax exemptions, or as we have seen in the recent wars, via giant no-bid, cost-plus, fully unaccountable contracts to build and/or supply [fill in the blank]. Ron Paul would end all this immediately. He has veto authority over all congressional bills and budgets and has proven time and time again his courage to vote against this corruption.

Protect the Internet from Censorship and Regulation
There are already several bills and even more ideas for laws in play to regulate, tax and censor the Internet. They will always come under the guise of "protecting our children from pornography" or "defending ourselves from global terrorism". However, the fine print is always vague and the true intentions will be to silence dissenting voices of the growing tyrannical federal and world authority. We must awaken to these forms of deception whereby the title of a bill betrays it's contents (eg. "The Patriot Act"). Ron Paul is a staunch defender of a free, untaxed, uncensored and unregulated Internet.

Protect Health Freedom and access to health information, supplements, and natural health treatment
Healthcare in America has become monopolized by the three-headed monster of surgery, radiation and pharmaceuticals. The corporate powers behind these practices have infiltrated the FDA and federal government such that there is a constant assault on any and all other healthcare treatments, particularly those that are cheapest, most natural and most effective at healing all chronic disease and discomfort. Few Americans know that it is illegal for anyone who sells a natural product or service to disclose the healing properties of this product or service, even when such claims are true and backed by authentic scientific data. Further, efforts are underway and have been made in the past to remove from the marketplace the entire base of natural vitamin and mineral supplements and to make illegal natural health treatments that have never harmed anyone and have proven to cure or mitigate diseases for which Big Pharma claims have no cure. Ron Paul has submitted on more than one occasion bills to defend our access to natural health products and services, as well as to the information as to their efficacy. He would be even more effective defending our health freedom as president.

Close the Federal Department of Education
What? He doesn't want to educate our children? This might be one's first reaction until one considers the full picture. Dr. Paul does not want federal politicians and the interests that influence them to control the education of Americans. Other politicians have tested this water, but none have provided the complete solution, which must always include the cutting of federal taxes, at least in the amount equivalent to what the federal government spends on education, so that the States can fund state education in a manner decided by the people of that state. We will witness an explosion in innovation in all aspects and all levels of education once the large, clumsy hand of the federal authority has been slapped away from influencing such a sensitive and vital part of our culture. Ron Paul will close the Federal Department of Education and would drastically reduce federal taxation and spending to make available the hundreds of billions of dollars needed to finance the revolution in education.

Restore Honesty and Transparency to Government
From 9/11 Truth Activists, to UFO Disclosure Activists, to those who abhor torture and want torturers found and prosecuted, to those who want international war criminals, American or otherwise, sought and brought to justice, to those who want to hear and protect the voices of government whistle-blowers exposing criminality within the ranks of our public servants, and on and on, - a Ron Paul presidency would finally bring about true transparency and accountability in government.

Balance the Federal Budget
There was a time when balancing the federal budget was the most important issue of the day. Now we accept giant federal budget deficits as a natural and unavoidable occurrence. In twenty years of federal politics Ron Paul has never once voted for an unbalanced budget. Further, he not only has a clear plan to turn the deficit into a surplus (while simultaneously eliminating the federal income tax), be he has the voting track record and uncompromising integrity to do exactly what he says he will do. The value of the U.S. dollar is in free-fall in great part due to the unmitigated daily growth in the national debt. The dollar has lost half it's value against the world's other major currencies in only a few years. This means that a salary of $100,000 when expressed in international value, has been reduced to $50,000. Understand this, - the deliberate and secretive financial malfeasance of Federal Reserve System and the Federal Government have conspired to reduce the wages of 98% of Americans by 50%, all without their knowing. Ron Paul will balance the budget and restore common sense and rational solutions to complex national financial matters. His knowledge of economics and monetary policy is unrivaled in political circles. He is a published author and outspoken activist for financial reform, including the restoration of the practice, as permitted by the Constitution, of using gold and silver as money.

End the Drug War including defending State's Rights in regards to Medicinal Marijuana
Prohibition didn't work with alcohol and it has been a complete failure with today's illicit drugs. Prohibition always produces more of what it intends to stop. Drug use rises, the profits to the illicit drug trade rises, cultural problems associated with drug use rise, and so on. Further, the greatest harm from drug prohibition comes not from drug abuse itself, but from the violence of the illicit drug trade that spills into our neighborhoods and threatens the peace and safety that is our right to enjoy. The cost of maintaining this "war" approaches one hundred billion dollars per year in law enforcement, judicial procedures, and maintaining the overcrowded prison system. Inevitably, many of the people we charge to prosecute this "war" end up corrupt and find ways to profit from drug trafficking, including doing the actual trafficking and money laundering themselves. The United States has a higher percentage of its population in prison than any other country in the world and most of these prisoners are serving long sentences for petty drug-related crimes of possession and use. Drug abuse is a health matter and would be better served if managed by the health community. Ron Paul understands this and would facilitate a rapid transition from drug prohibition, to drug decriminalization, to an emphasis on supporting a free and unburdened health community charged with the task of eradicating drug abuse from our culture.

Repeal Recent laws that violate privacy and threaten our freedom at home
This list is too long to remember and the onslaught continues unabated. Ron Paul adamantly opposes any federal law designed to inhibit freedom, invade privacy, end due process and habeas corpus, force the people to receive vaccinations (whether "safe", experimental, known to be unsafe, or otherwise), allow executive declaration of a police state and suspension of the constitutional government, and more. His long voting record is 100% compatible with his spoken intent. Ron Paul would work hard to repeal the Patriot Act, the Military Commission Act, and all the others like them. He would also veto any attempt by Congress to do more of the same under his watch.

End Illegal Immigration
Ron Paul does not oppose legal immigration, nor a fair and innovative approach to receiving immigrants from other nations. He opposes a wide-open and undefended border which has resulted in over twenty million illegal immigrants entering the country, many who now overburden and compromise the quality of the state education and healthcare systems. He would end the subsidies that act as incentives to illegal immigration such as birthright citizenship. He would bring troops home to defend our borders and would adequately fund the program from money saved from having ended the wars and the "empire building". He would restore reason and responsibility to federal immigration policy.

In Closing
In each and every one of these issues listed, no other major candidate in either party takes the same position, and none ever have in my lifetime. This is by no means an exhaustive list of the benefits to Americans of a Ron Paul presidency. I invite and encourage everyone to learn more about this man, the issues facing the nation, Dr. Paul's philosophies and solutions as they pertain to the issues and to the many other groups and individuals attempting to change the course of America from one of certain doom, to one of renewed peace and prosperity, to a land and people once again admired by all and feared by none.
