This is good news.

He could take some of Huckabee and Romneys soft support...more likely RP will take 3rd and maybe 2nd

This is great news for Iowa, actually. Not as good as if they had endorsed RP, but I'm all for seeing McCain turn Iowa into a legitimate 3-way for the warmongers. This is the sort of circumstance that actually improves our chances for an out-and-out victory in the caucuses.

McCain is finished. At least they chose someone who's going to be in the back of the pack.

Ron Paul - Endorsed by the People!

Right.

John McCain can be as nasty as anyone. Basically blaming the rise of Hitler on Ron Paul is being nasty and dishonest, not honest.

The newspaper endorsements are hardly surprising. The Des Moines Register typically endorses Republicans they view as "pragmatists" and willing to "work with others," and they typically endorse Democrats who espouse the most redistributionist platform, which this time was a tie between Edwards and Clinton. Plus, the editorial board of the Des Moines Register is comprised of three liberal women, so they obviously had bias toward Clinton.

The only newspaper endorsement Ron Paul can expect this time around is Reason's. And there is good "Reason" to believe that's the best one to have. ;)

Too bad for Mccain, his endorsement story is going to grossly overshadowed by a much bigger development in the campaign season....;)

That's what I'm saying -- not to mention the new boost in military contributions for Paul.

He blamed Hitler on the US.

That just about says it all.

The man is a pathetic warmonger.

I ruled out McCain long ago when he voted for amnesty.

He's finished, in my book.

And this is great news.....split the warmonger votes. The more splits they have over the neo cons the more our vote matters. I was happy as a clam when I read this. Only thing better would have been an RP endorsement.

All you have heard the last 2 weeks has been Huck, Mitt, Rudy. Now throw in McCain and dilute the war crowd.

McCain isn't going to win.

That's exactly why they endorsed him. They "threw away" their endorsement. McCain is just someone they could endorse without alienating their readership, he's the safe choice for them. This is what they would do if they really like Ron Paul.

As a business they couldn't endorse Ron Paul because it would have been too risky, so they did the next best thing. This helps our cause by weakening Romney, Giuliani, and Huckabee.

you know I had the exact same thoughts but did not have the balls to post it...could my thoughts be true or am I delusional?

The Iowa paper has a poor track record in recent elections of picking winners.
