Who is donating this money and why? I havent seen one address that looks like it is military or expatriated

Whats going on? All of the answers I have read here so far dont add up except that maybe we gained a bump from the Cramer interview or PBS.

Its all good but my curiosity is getting to me:o

Some people may have gotten confused about the whole 15-16 thing that we had going at the very beginning.

Personally, I was hoping for 12 million before the 16th.

Listen here, we have Freedom of Donation in this country, which means one can donate whenever they want without restriction....

Could it be people from other parts of the world donating? It is the 16th already where they are, that is if they are allowed to donate.

Darn it, so we'll only raise $11.5M tomorrow instead of $11.7M? Grrr... those bastids! :D

So they wouldnt have donated because of the tea party anyway.

No loss for the tea party.

You guys worry to much. :)

Yeah, who cares? This happened on November 4th as well. After raising about $25k the previous few days, we raised close to $70k on November 4th. But did that really matter? We don't even know if the campaign raised $4.2 or $4.3 Million on the 5th. The numbers aren't exact.

All that matters is the first digit - how many millions do we raise.

Ugh... incredible... they couldn't have waited one day with the email??

No, they couldn't have. It's already pushing the legal limits by mentioning a party involving tea. The Tea Party CANNOT be officially endorsed by the campaign. Do we really want an FEC investigation of the Ron Paul campaign?

Remember, the e-mail informed people about the Tea Party who didn't know about it. And remember, before the LAST money bomb we had close to $70k donated in a day. And these Ron Paul e-mails usually generate over $100k by themselves. If people read the e-mail and then donated, we'd get close to $200k today.... which we won't be even close to.

That says that the e-mail did a great job. Basically nobody read that e-mail and then donated. So if even 200 or 300 extra people now know about the tea party and donate, the e-mail worked like a charm.

Didn't we also raise something like $400,000 on Nov. 6th? I wonder if that will happen again after all the media coverage.

Correct. About $390k. A lot of it was spillover. We were raising at a frenetic pace in the last hour, and it continued for close to a half hour afterwards. I don't think it was because of the media reporting as much as people being so excited that they were willing to reach deeper and donate again.

The campaign did the right thing.

The 16th will be so big that this little bit of money will be NOISE.

So? Are we arresting them? No. We are chastising them. ...or are you saying we don't have the free speech to chastise people?

And it will all be spent to spread the message of freedom, so be very happy!

These dollars whether donated now or not are going towards the national ad! So all the money counts whether or not it's on the 16th or not.

Whats the difference between $10 million and $10.1 million? Not that much when you look at the whole picture.

Yeah, honestly, if this tiny upbeat in donations hurts teaparty, then the teaparty would be a failure anyway. -.-

They are just warming up the money machine, people, so it's all juiced up and ready for the millions :D

I think the people giving money today and yesterday are fairly new to Ron Paul so they don't know about the TeaParty... :-) New supporters!

My understanding of that was that it was both spillover and Catholic supporters who did not want to affiliate their contributions with the underlying Guy Fawkes Day implications, so they chose to make "their" day November 6th.
