The team that last employed Colin Kaepernick is very publicly acknowledging his cause.
The San Francisco 49ers have raised a Black Lives Matter flag at Levi’s Stadium. The team posted an image of the flag on its Instagram page on Monday with a caption reading: “Indivisible with liberty and justice for all,” quoting the Pledge of Allegiance.
The flag flies alongside the American flag and the California state flag.
‘We’re focused on taking actions’
49ers CEO Jed York talked about the flag in a virtual meeting with season ticket-holders on Monday.
“First and foremost, you’re saddened and outraged when you see events take place, especially when they’re specifically violent events that are targeted at African-Americans,” York said, per the The San Jose Mercury News (https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/06/23/49ers-jed-york-on-black-lives-matter-we-can-make-real-serious-change-in-this-country/). “We’re focused on taking actions.
“When Colin started a protest movement in 2016, what we had talked about in talking to Dr. Harry Edwards, his message which we’ve adopted was to take protests to progress.

The Dixie Chicks have officially dropped the “Dixie” from their name. The iconic country-pop trio of Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer, and Martie Maguire are now simply called “The Chicks,” changing their website URL and their Instagram handle to the new name on Thursday.
On their website, the trio only offered this statement: “We want to meet this moment.” In a press statement, they added, “A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out to ‘The Chicks’ of [New Zealand] for their gracious gesture in allowing us to share their name. We are honored to co-exist together in the world with these exceptionally talented sisters. Chicks Rock!”
The move comes in light of the country’s ongoing protests and conversations regarding the history of racism in the U.S., and follows on the heels of Lady Antebellum pulling a similar move by changing their band name to Lady A.

"At least a couple of teams" are serious about exploring Kaepernick, Michael Silver reported Wednesday. "I have talked to one head coach who is absolutely interested."
