Trump Says U.S. Death Toll Could Reach 100,000

Defending his response to the pandemic, the president told a Fox News town hall that initial intelligence briefings suggested the outbreak was “not a big deal.”

Published May 3, 2020

Trump acknowledged that the virus has proved more lethal than he had expected.

President Trump predicted on Sunday night that the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the country may reach as high as 100,000 in the United States, far higher than he had forecast just weeks ago, even as he pressed states to begin reopening the shuttered economy.

Mr. Trump, who last month forecast that 60,000 lives would be lost, acknowledged that the virus has proved more devastating than he had expected but said he believes parks and beaches should begin reopening and schools should resume classes in person by this fall.

“We’re going to lose anywhere from 75, 80 to 100,000 people,” he said in a virtual “town hall” meeting on Fox News. “That’s a horrible thing. We shouldn’t lose one person over this.”

But he credited himself with preventing the toll from being worse. “If we didn’t do it, the minimum we would have lost was a million two, a million four, a million five, that’s the minimum. We would have lost probably higher, it’s possible higher than 2.2.

During the two-hour broadcast, he also acknowledged he was warned about the coronavirus in his regular intelligence briefing on Jan. 23 but asserted that the information was characterized as if “it was not a big deal.”

Mr. Trump confirmed reports that his intelligence briefings cited the virus even as he argued that it had not been presented in an alarming way that demanded immediate action.

Well there is a parallel universe where Trump actually does this. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of living in that universe.

Trump is such an idiot.

If you watch the bullshit fake news and listen to made up shit about Trump all day I could see how you would feel that way.

Doesn't reflect well on you, though. Don't you know the media is the true enemy of the people? I thought we all learned that 12 years ago, or earlier.

You probably think that the President called Nazis "fine people" and that he told people to drink lysol.

If so, you have failed the nationally administered IQ tests.

If there is one thing that I have learned over all of these years is don’t trust the government, and actions speak louder than words and rhetoric. If the Orange Man is as smart as how you put him off to be with playing 3-D chess so to pull a fast one over the Deep State and “Drain the Swamp” to make America Great Again, what makes you think he isn’t playing 4-D chess on you and every other Trump supporter by just giving you some bread crumbs like “lock her up”, telling off some reporter, or saying a few rude sound bits at press conferences of what a lot of people think in their heads?

It's not just what he says, it is the deep state controlled media and political elite's reaction to him.

I don't believe they all secretly like Trump.

Again, actions speak louder than words and rhetoric. I don’t put it past any of the Deep State to use a puppet to react to a puppet press to keep everyone thinking he has to be good because the press hates him while he and the rest of the Federal Gov just keeps getting bigger and bigger while my dollar becomes worth less and less.

Trump may as well be under mind control by Bill Gates. The 2+ million deaths figure is from the Imperial College of London propaganda, paid for by Gates and parroted by Gates' minions, Fauci and Birx. Trump has fully drunk the Kool Aide these psychos are serving.

Worse than that - as if that's not bad enough - is that is it isn't Trump in office it will be a full blown Bolshevik or a puppet of them.

Deficit spending
Ending the patriot act
Auditing the FED

With the possible exception of the last one, Amash won't be able to get any of those done even if he did get elected.

Trump has put in hundreds of Federal Judges who will help protect our 2nd amendment and other important rights, which dwarfs everything you just said, to start with.. without our second amendment, we are done.

I disagree on humble foreign policy. The media was trying to convince people that Trump wouldn't get along with anybody and start a war with North Korea and all these different countries. Hasn't happened. In fact, he has made a lot of inroads with foreign leaders and done a fantastic job.

He has slashed regulations and cut taxes. He got rid of the individual mandate on Obamacare.

Finally, Rand Paul and Thomas Massie are Trump supporters. They will not be voting for Amash.

Yes, we absolutely should watch out for anyone who wants to just take the guns and then figure out due process later. Or bans bump stocks, or anything else against the 2nd.

You are seriously defending the guy who was begging Jerome Powell to cut Interest rates again last year?

Even if one accepts the theory for a moment that media is Deep State/Deep Neocons/Deep Globalists controlled and promoted taxpayers funded mideast wars and occupations, you realize media also played a very fruitful role and made great contributions in development of Trump by giving him prime time coverage for years?
Everything is not a circus to fool the gullible wing of public.

No, it isn't. They don't agree with him on everything, but they support him as President because of what he has accomplished. Period.

Are you aware rubber bands work better than a $200 bump stock? Who the fuck cares about bump stocks? Do you know how much your accuracy suffers with them?

Trump is trying to get shit done, ok? And he is succeeding. That's called throwing them crumbs in trade for a cake.

It would be awesome to have a principled libertarian as President, but it's not in the cards. That isn't what the voters even want. Of course bump stocks should be legal, but we are walking a tight rope here between full on gun grabbing leftists and trying to accomplish goals that will best help the American people.

Trump will protect our second amendment, and I guarantee it is in better shape today than the alternative.. If Hillary had won then we would have new Federal and State laws that are much more stringent than what we see today. What we have today is due to Trump's superior intellect and negotiating skills, and his ability to work out the best deals.

If you can't see that is what he is doing, you really just aren't looking hard enough.

Edit: Oh, and a Federal Judge recently overturned California's background check requirement for ammo purchases - incidentally it was a Bush appointee, certainly not an Obama appointee, but this is an example of how important Trump's judges that he has confirmed will come into play for many decades. You should be absolutely grateful for the turn in the trajectory of the country thanks to Trump.

To turn this back to objectivity can you present any other wins from the Trump presidency besides Federal judge appointee's?

Removed the Obamacare mandate... slashed regulations... bringing back manufacturing jobs.... cut taxes...

There is A LOT more he has done, but he was worth electing just for those and the federal judges..

Then compare that to what we would have had, he has held back the left from their bullshit and getting us into more wars.

Lately following MSM narrative that has started appearing frequently in TV/print media headlines:

Covid-19 deaths rising by 9/11 proportions each day

Reuters
Friday, 11 December 2020
WASHINGTON, Dec 11 (Reuters) - A mounting U.S. death toll has tempered enthusiasm about a coming COVID-19 vaccine with 9/11-like fatalities projected every day for the months ahead, even with a rapid rollout of inoculations, which could start as soon as Monday. Another 2,902 U.S. deaths were reported on Thursday, a day after a record 3,253 people died, a pace projected to continue for the next two to three months until the vaccine can be widely distributed.
Those daily tolls are roughly equivalent to the 2,996 killed in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and greater than the 2,403 killed in the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor - traumatic events that reshaped the United States for years.
