Down here in the Kenosha area members of our RP meetup group have been attending all GOP functions. From what I can tell there is not a heavy neocon infection here. RP supporters are an ever increasing percentage of the people at GOP events and we have been well received.
At the last GOP executive board meeting we had a visit and talk from the Chair of the Wisconsin GOP. He asked for a show of hands from RP meetup people at the meeting. Over 1/3 of the attendees responded. "Wow" he says. He said he had heard from many RP supporters regarding getting on the ballot in the state. (RP is on the ballot in Wisconsin). He also said he got a lot of calls thanking him for making sure RP was on the ballot, and that he loved to see our enthusiasm!
Get out there people and join your local GOP. Its working great here. I have been asked to be a poll worker for the party during the Primary this year. It is important to get these local GOP groups on our side. Much can be accomplished from the inside!
