I just found this article printed in the Swedish newspaper SvD:
http://www.svd.se/nyheter/utrikes/artikel_686835.svd

Among Swedish morning newspapers, Svenska Dagbladet has the third largest circulation. It is idependent but adheres to liberal conservatism and it is the only major newspaper in the country that calls itself conservative in any way.

Since there might be a few people on this forum that does not understand Swedish, I have translated the article into Swedish.

Ron Paul sets online funraising record
Published: 14th of December 2007, 07:53

The name of the most snappish candidate in the American election is Ron Paul. He is one of eight republicans competing for the GOP nomination, and his broadsides [I really don't know what that is supposed to mean, but I guess it is some sort of attacks] at the federal government works well in parts of the U.S.

Inne i Des Moines ligger Ron Pauls högkvarter vägg i vägg med den republikanske opinionskometen Mike Huckabees och på de snötäckta gärdena ute på landsbygden är plakaten med hans namn överraskande många.

In Des Moines, Ron Paul's head quarter is right next to that of the republican poll comet Mike Huckabee and around the snow covered fields at the country side the yard signs with his name on them are surprizingly many.

– He is unique. A truth sayer who constitutes our only hope forthe future, Crystal Schryber says.

She is a volunteer in the Ron Paul campaign, belonging in the home schooling movement and even though she has never worked actively fo any candidate before this, she has allready demonstrated her own scepticism over the estate.

– I voted for George W Bush. Whether I regret it? Yes, I wish the way things would have turned out differently, Crystal Schryber continues.

Ron Paul has, along with Mike Huckabee, reaped the most laughter and applaus in the many republican debates. He speaks with emphasis against the War in Iraq and he was one of the six republicans whe voted against the war resolution in Congress.

The 72 year old doctor points out the following about himself:

• He has never voted to raise taxes.

• He has never voted for an unbalances budget.

• He has never voted for federal interference in weapon laws.

• He has never voted to raise salaries for congressmen.

• He does every year return parts of the salary he gets from congress.

Further, he is against the central bank Federal Reserve, American membership in international organizations and trade agreements and he was the Libertarian Party's candidate in the presidential election in 1988.

The Ron Paul campaign is this year's good example of what can be done on the internet. In 2003 and 2004 it was the democrat Howard Dean who revolutionized fundraising by getting a large amount of small donations online. Now Ron Paul supporters have on their own started projects that the campaign would not afford, for example the encouragement to donate on the 5th of November when supporters remember Guy Fawkes who in 1605 tried to blow up the Brittish parliament.

That day, the number landed on 4.2 million dollar, which is the highest in the political history of the U.S. Pauld own website is also among the best ones, with links to all network sites.

He has gathered more money than any other second tire candidate and his supporters are very angry that that he does not get more attention in the media, which can be seen in the letters that are written to the newspaper Des Maines Register which excluded Paul from the rating of the candidates on certain issues.

Yeah, according to the poll (http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/special/storfragan/visa/0,1937,30633,00.html) at Aftonbladet, 80% of Swedes are hoping for a Democrat to win and the support of all republicans added toghether just adds up to that of Al Gore, who is not even running. Most Swedes are life long socialists, so converting them would be hard.

That's what happens when marxists take control of your govt. and newspapers. They sway opinion.

Where are the vikings? Denmark?

A broadside is an attack where a ship simultaneously fires all of its guns on one side.
In other words, it's a very comprehensive attack.

Ok, I had no idea about that. I don't know if it has the same meaning in Swedish though. It said "bredsida" in the article, a word that consists of the words "bred" (broad) and "sida" (side), so I translated it into "broadside".

The word "bredsida", however, to me, collocates with soccer vocabulary. A "bredsida" would be a kick executed with the inner side of the foot. This results in the shot being more accurate, but not as hard as a laces shot.
