Paul, R-Lake Jackson, said he was surprised when he heard what his supporters were planning in Freeport.
“This is a reflection of the enthusiasm that has been building around the campaign since we started,” Paul said. “I thought it looked sort of interesting and entertaining. They seem to be having a lot of fun down there.”
The passion of his supporters keeps him motivated during his grueling campaign schedule, he said.
“Sometimes when I’m going on 36 hours without sleep, I think ‘Hey, they’re having all the fun,’” Paul said while sitting on a plane, waiting to take off to his next campaign junket. “They are what makes this fun for me. You have to enjoy it while you’re doing what you believe in.”
