The Trump administration plans to unveil efforts on Friday to crack down on counterfeit and pirated goods sold on major e-commerce sites and urge companies to do more to vet third-party sellers and increase self-policing efforts.Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf and White House adviser Peter Navarro will be among officials at a news conference on Friday to discuss the effort at the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center in Arlington, Virginia, administration officials said on Thursday.
Foreign sellers face little risk of prosecution, an administration official told Reuters, so strong U.S. government action "is necessary to fundamentally realign incentive structures."
Law enforcement agencies are planning "immediate actions" to identify counterfeit goods and seek "all available statutory authorities to pursue civil fines and other penalties against these entities," according to a DHS report reported by the Wall Street Journal on Thursday and confirmed by an administration official.
The Trump administration is also seeking legal authority "to explicitly permit the government to seek injunctive relief against third-party marketplaces and other intermediaries dealing in counterfeit merchandise," the official confirmed.
The official said that if companies adopt the best practices, the administration believes it will substantially reduce trafficking in counterfeit and pirated goods.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (https://www.foxnews.com/category/us/immigration/border-security) officers in Minnesota (https://www.foxnews.com/category/us/us-regions/midwest/minnesota) discovered $900,000 in counterfeit $1 bills inside a shipping container originating from China, the agency said in a press release Monday.

CBP officers had referred a rail container for a Customs Exam Station inspection on Dec. 14 at the International Falls Port of Entry, which connects the cities of International Falls, Minn., and Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada.
While inspecting the container Friday, CBP officers found 45 cartons of possible counterfeit currency in the form of $1 bills with a total face value of $900,000. The U.S. Secret Service was contacted and determined the currency is counterfeit, the press release (https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/local-media-release/cbp-officers-seize-900k-worth-counterfeit-us-currency) said.

Unfortunately for us, it isn't junk anymore. For instance, you can get a better torque wrench from harbor freight than from snapon. While our manufacturing has been stagnating, they have been getting a lot of practice over the last few decades.

Keep telling yourself that. Most people with iPhones think differently.
