CBC network had removed a cameo appearance of Donald Trump in Home Alone 2 just for the holiday season. There was no reason given why that CBC removed the scene but clearly it was politically motivated.

Happened to see that scene on some channel this week. Whatever channel it was, they still had that scene.

Clearly.

Clearly. No doubt they sold the package to some U.S. stations. NBC canceled Celebrity Apprentice too. They said it was because they hated Trump, but that was a lie. The truth is, the Equal Time Rule.

During Reagan's run, they stopped showing Bedtime for Bonzo. That, too, made for better television.

Want to know what TDS is? TDS is hearing about a network still paying attention to the seventy year old Equal Time Rule and taking it as evidence that the media actually does hate the GOP figurehead they're pretending to hate.

Why would the Canadians care about our "Equal Time" laws?

You could very well be right, and I'm not going to spend all day arguing over it, but it just seems petty to me.

And are you really saying that the daily Two Minutes Hate from every government news organ is fake and is, in fact, a clever Machiavellian scheme to increase Trump's popularity?

Who do they buy these shows from? Do the suppliers prepare separate Canadian versions? Does the CBC sell syndication rights to certain U.S. stations?

Sounds like it goes at least back to 2015- before Trump was ever President.

CBC told ComicBook.com, which first reported the backlash to the edit, that the movie was edited not for political purposes but to allow for commercials.

"As is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for commercial time within the format,” CBC said.

It appears the Trump-free edit might not be new for the network, with at least one Twitter user mentioning it as far back as December 2015.

The Hill reached out to CBC for comment and to confirm if this edit has been used in years prior to Trump’s election.

According to PJ Media, folks online have complained about CBC cutting the Trump cameo in the movie since 2015. It’s unclear if the movie was aired on the network prior to 2015.

It’s unclear when the CBC first cut Trump’s cameo out of the film, but it has been edited out since at least December 2015, according to viewers. The CBC said the film “was edited to allow for commercial time within the format,” according to conservative site PJ Media.

The right-wing blog argued, without evidence, that the CBC is biased against Trump and cut the cameo as a dig at the president.

In the 10 second cameo, child actor Macaulay Culkin walks into the Plaza Hotel and bumps into Trump, then the owner of the iconic Manhattan establishment, and asks him for directions to the lobby.

“Down the hall and to the left,” Trump says before walking away.

The PJ Media story, published on Christmas, prompted condemnation from the president’s eldest son and top attack dog, Donald Trump Jr.

The elder Trump purchased the Plaza Hotel for over $400 million in 1988 and sold the hotel at an $83 million loss in 1995.

And are you really saying that the daily Two Minutes Hate from every government news organ is fake and is, in fact, a clever Machiavellian scheme to increase Trump's popularity?

What in your experience with the Polysci Majors leads you to believe they aren't capable of such a thing? Did they give Ron Paul the two minutes hate 24/7/365 on every channel, or did they black him out? Are you going to fall back on the "too famous to ignore" fairy tale? Was Bill Cosby not more famous and more popular? When was the last time you heard his name? When was the last time the Chosen Republican wasn't treated this way? Didn't they do it to McCain up until his campaign went broke? Does this look familiar?

This is the how manyth time you've asked, "Is anyone capable of such duplicity?" How often has the answer been, "The government is"? Every time?

Remove the scene all they want. It doesn't change the fact that he cameoed in that movie.

But six months after he became a candidate for the office.

That we know of. It may have been even before that- but since he was not running for office or anything nobody really noticed or cared.

How many Americans actually watch Canadian television anyways? Maybe some near the border.

CBC responded: The made the cut back in 2014: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-fans-upset-canada-cut-president-s-home-alone-2-n1107506

A spokesman for the CBC, Chuck Thompson, confirmed the scene had been cut from the version of the 1992 film that aired in Canada on Christmas Eve, but said the decision was not political. He noted that Trump has been missing from the Canadian broadcaster's version of the film since before he was even a presidential candidate.

"As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, "Home Alone 2" was edited for time," Thompson said in a statement. "The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot. These edits were done in 2014, when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected president."

Oh, I don't doubt that for a minute, but what I question is whether, amongst the rank and file in the government press organs, that it is not a well orchestrated plot, but that they really do despise the man, just like they did Shrub and just like they did Reagan.

They put a million plus people in the streets of NYC to protest both Shrub and Reagan (remember when the Russians were good guys to the left-wing and Ronnie Raygun was gonna blow up the world with his incendiary rhetoric?).

I remember.

And that's the circle of people that these media organ employees travel in...the millions marching down 5th Ave.

That's a pretty impressive fake show if what you say is totally true.

I think the black out of Ron was more their speed, and I agree that WAS an orchestrated effort.

‘Home Alone 2’ TV version was edited years before Trump’s election, CBC says after right-wing outrage

Right before Christmas, AMC (commercial channel) played Home Alone 2, and the Trump Cameo was in. I even forgot he had the Cameo, but at the time Trump owned the PLaza Hotel which they filmed in. CBC are serious like a group of petulant children.

Not a surprise that CBC would make this claim. CBC claim that Home Alone 2’ TV version was edited years before Trump’s election is completely false because before Trump came into politics in America.

The CBC and YTV both had TV reruns of Home alone 2 featuring in some of those reurns that trump scene.
