Trump associate Roger Stone found guilty of lies that protected Trump

By Geneva Sands, Katelyn Polantz and Veronica Stracqualursi, CNN
Fri November 15, 2019

(CNN)Longtime Trump associate Roger Stone was found guilty on Friday of lying to Congress and other charges in a case that has shed new light on President Donald Trump's anticipation of the release of stolen Democratic emails in 2016 by WikiLeaks.

Stone, a political operative, was found guilty of all seven counts (https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/25/politics/roger-stone-arrested/index.html) brought by the Justice Department, a victory for special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. Stone was found guilty on five counts of lying to Congress, one of witness tampering, and one of obstructing a Congressional committee proceeding.

The verdict marks a stunning conclusion to one of the highest-profile prosecutions to emerge from special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation -- a case that began with one of Trump's most vocal supporters arrested during a pre-dawn raid (https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/25/politics/roger-stone-raid/index.html) as the special counsel's investigation wound down, and that since then has gradually revealed new information about the Trump campaign's positive reception to foreign interference in the 2016 election.

Prosecutors asked the judge to take Stone into custody immediately. They alleged he violated his gag order and communicated with a member of the press last night. Judge Amy Berman Jackson declined, saying she" will release him on his current conditions pending the sentencing date."

Some scummy leftist radio DJ who interviewed Assange told Stone he had a bigger connection to Assange than he actually had. Stone was communicating with the campaign about the upcoming email leaks and was claiming he had some insider info. The dems are making it out to be that he had some direct connection with wikileaks, and wikileaks = Russia therefore collusion.. But it was essentially coming from this scummy radio DJ, who was lying to him, and maybe some other randos online who were saying they had inside info.. Now this guy was going to lie in court about Stone, and Stone threatened his dog or something. The DJ said he knew he was joking about the dog, but apparently that was enough to be considered intimidating a witness.

Stone was Trump's wingman. After all these DC criminals are arrested and some executed, Stone will be pardoned.

Stone was found guilty on five counts of lying to Congress, one of witness tampering, and one of obstructing a Congressional committee proceeding.

So he wasn't found guilty of actually doing anything wrong, just guilty of fibbing to feds.

Another Section 1001 conviction.

And he'll die in prison because of it.

Tend to agree.
There maybe some pressures also, Trump has been courting LGBTQ community lately that apparently sees Stone as a political foe because of his close ties to traditionally Christian values based "anti gay" Republicans since Nixon days (although technically he may be part of less common LGBT (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?540923-Prepare-to-die-Stone-texted-witness-trial-jury-hears&p=6881961&viewfull=1#post6881961)TQ community).

EM.

There has been great confusion about this in America lately, perhaps bi-partisan political leadership and top Dem leaning donors of both parties need to get together and come out with a joint statement clarifying what 'Russian' means in the context of recent political controversies.
As is, things are getting bit out of hand with constant flood of news/fakenews on such issues.

Turns out Hillary Clinton said Republicans — not Russians — were grooming Tulsi Gabbard (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?540508-Turns-out-Hillary-Clinton-said-Republicans-—-not-Russians-—-were-grooming-Tulsi-Gabbard&)
What a sad end to Tulsi's political career just days after she called MAGA Saudi's 'bitch' and referred to him as a 'pimp' and soon after she was outed as secret pawn of Deep Zionism.
Madam Hillary Clinton, what have you done.
If 'Russians' was euphemism for 'Right Wing Jewish/Pro-Israel neoconservative donors' of Republicans-MAGA wing, she should say it or clarify if it was a Freudian slip or something else.

No Nixonian "Victory" signs at the courthouse today. "No comment." Steve Bannon was one of the people who testified against him at the trial.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/roger-stone-found-guilty-all-seven-counts-n1082326

Republican operative Roger Stone was found guilty Friday of all seven counts against him, including witness tampering and making false statements.

Prosecutors portrayed Stone, 67, as a serial liar who tried to bully witnesses into not cooperating with authorities. They charged Stone, a confidant of President Donald Trump, with making false statements, obstruction and witness tampering in a case that was an offshoot of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.

Stone is the sixth Trump aide or adviser to be convicted of charges brought as part of Mueller's probe.

His sentencing was set for Feb. 6, and he faces up to 20 years in prison. The jury deliberated for two days.

The colorful trial in Washington lasted nearly two weeks and featured references to "The Godfather Part II," threats of dognapping, complaints of food poisoning and a gag order.

Stone was arrested in January in an early morning FBI raid and charged with misleading the House Intelligence Committee in 2017 about his efforts to find out when WikiLeaks would be releasing emails hacked from the Democratic Party and Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign.

The prosecution rested its case on Tuesday with the testimony of former FBI agent Michelle Taylor. She was recalled to testify about Stone's testimony to the Intelligence Committee, specifically when he told the panel about his thoughts on the potential connection between Guccifer 2.0 and the Russian government.

The trial also featured various former Trump aides, including ex-White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and onetime Trump campaign aide Rick Gates, who struck a plea deal with Mueller.

Bannon told jurors he saw Stone as "an access point" to WikiLeaks.

Gates testified that it was his understanding that Stone had inside, nonpublic information into WikiLeaks' operation and that the campaign acted on it.

After the DNC announced it had been hacked and WikiLeaks planned a news conference, the campaign had "brainstorming" sessions about what to do with the information. Gates said that the Trump campaign chairman at the time, Paul Manafort, who was convicted earlier this year in the Mueller probe, told him he would update Trump with any information that he could get from Stone.

The jury also saw an email between Gates and Stone after the DNC announced it had been hacked. In it, Stone asks for Trump son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner's contact information.

In late July 2016, Gates testified, he was in the car when Trump received a phone call from Stone. After the call, Trump told Gates that "more information would be coming" about WikiLeaks.

"This is a bigger message about truth," Mimi Rocah, former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and MSNBC legal analyst, said of the guilty verdict. "The public has been seeing people lying so brazenly for so long and the jury saying facts still matter is a big deal."

Stone, a Trump confidant for more than 30 years and self-described "dirty trickster," has been a well-known Republican operative dating to President Richard Nixon's campaign. Stone also served early on as an adviser to Trump's 2016 campaign and has called the case against him politically motivated.

Stone did not testify in his trial, but his defense team played a 50-minute clip of his Intelligence Committee testimony for the jury, claiming the prosecution did not prove its case. Stone had denied knowing about the WikiLeaks' releases of hacked emails ahead of time.

Prosecutors, who had Stone’s emails and texts, said he pressured Randy Credico, a radio talk show host and former comedian, to lie about being an intermediary between him and WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange.

"Stonewall it. Plead the fifth," Stone texted him in November 2017. Stone also called a Credico a "rat" and a "stoolie" in a threatening April 2018 email.

"My lawyers are dying to rip you to shreds. I'm going to take that dog away from you," he said in the email, which Credico read aloud in court.

Stone also urged Credico to emulate a character from "The Godfather Part II," Frank Pentangeli, who recants his testimony to Congress about mob boss Michael Corleone after being intimidated. Prosecutors sought permission to show a clip from the movie, but the judge declined to allow it and informed the jury to not watch the movie.

The trial that promised to be a circus lived up to expectations. Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos attended every day, telling reporters that he's writing a book about it. Yiannopoulos often took lunch breaks with Stone and his legal team in the courtroom cafeteria.

After the verdict was read, prosecutors asked for Stone to be jailed as he awaits sentencing. But Jackson ruled that Stone would be released to this own recognizance but would be subject to the same blanket gag order that was imposed during the trial, banning him from discussing the case with media or posting about it on social media.

Yet when it comes to the rights of someone that doesn't even belong in this country , you
can't be shut up.

Have you ever even commented , giving your take, or opinion on things like DHS NSA TSA, Patriot Act,
I don't recall ever seeing your opinion or stance of those and countless other issues , Police Home Invasions,
Due Process, Asset Forfeiture etc etc etc, I don't recall a word edgewise from you on these issues,
seems to be all Open Borders or fault with Trump, that seems to be about it, that's all I ever seem

Nope. Like Trump, his party controlled the Senate. If Republicans had control, he would have been. That helped to contribute to the party divisions we see today- one cannot support anything the other party does/ supports or it is seen as weakness. Everything must be opposed. The goal is not to move the country ahead but stop the other party from doing anything- no matter how good it may be.
