The White House will name Chad Wolf as acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, according tosources briefed on the decision. Wolf is a top DHS official currently serving as the department's undersecretary.

"Wolf is an extremely qualified DHS leader, highly respected, well-versed in the policies and inner workings of the department, its vast mission and issue sets. He remains the best viable option to advance the president's priorities. An all- around excellent pick," a senior DHS Official told NPR.
The move was first reported by Politico (https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/31/chad-wolf-acting-dhs-secretary-063363). The White House has declined to comment.

President Trump announced earlier this month that acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan was leaving his post (https://www.npr.org/2019/10/11/736030516/acting-homeland-security-secretary-kevin-mcaleenan-is-out). Wolf would be the fifth person to lead the department since Trump took office.

As NPR's Franco Ordoņez reported, that set off a wave of jockeying (https://www.npr.org/2019/10/21/772055838/white-house-factions-fight-over-trumps-next-homeland-security-secretary) as various factions inside the White House pushed for candidates who support their agendas.

Wolf would seem to be a less controversial choice than others, in that he has not publicly espoused the hard-line views on immigration that the acting head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Ken Cuccinelli has, for instance.

Some advocates for immigration restrictions have raised concerns about Wolf's prior work as a lobbyist on H-1B and other employment visas - programs that Trump has opposed. Wolf would become the latest person in charge at DHS "who is not completely on board" with Trump's immigration agenda, said RJ Hauman, head of government relations at the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

"If officially named, Wolf must recuse himself from work on all guest worker related issues, not just H-1B and L-1," Hauman said.

Even if it is true Trump has done quite well reducing immigration with less than perfect subordinates so far.

And McConnell is far from cooperative about letting him pick his administration, the old idiot is still purposely blocking any recess appointments and slow walking everything in the Senate.

Trump said it himself.

"Is Chad Wolf going to be your new DHS secretary?" Trump was asked by a reporter.
"Well, he's right now acting and we'll see what happens," Trump said. "We have great people there."

Naming someone as an acting secretary has nothing to do with the Senate or McConnell. It is 100% Trump.

It certainly does IF he intends to nominate him permanently, if he doesn't then a temporary acting appointment doesn't mean much.

An acting secretary can't be nominated to the positions. They have to step down from the position while being considered by the Senate.

All politicians evolve after winning elections, sometime it seems that diversity progress being made under GOP-Adelson wing leadership is being criticized unfairly :

Trump doesn't nominate anybody to any position. He likes having a carousel of "acting" heads so they never have to be investigated and confirmed and can be replaced with little fanfare or moved in to accomplish a particular agenda point then back out when done.

This is good news. Trump has already established a decent pro-immigration record in the way of deporting fewer people than Obama did even though the number of illegal immigrants entering is higher now.

But the one place where Trump is lacking, and so far hasn't made good on his campaign promises, is in welcoming higher numbers of legal immigrants. The number of visas issued is slightly down under Trump. Hopefully this is a sign that he may yet get around to keeping that promise.

Trump has been reducing immigration both legal and illegal and that is good and the only hope to save liberty.

Trump doesn't nominate anybody to any position.
That is provably false.
