View Full Version : Trump urges GOP to fight for him

President Trump delivered a pointed message Monday to Republicans beginning to break from their White House ally amid Democrats’ escalating impeachment investigation: Fight harder for me.

“Republicans have to get tougher and fight,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House. “We have some that are great fighters, but they have to get tougher and fight because the Democrats are trying to hurt the Republican Party for the election.”

Trump has been growing more and more irritated by criticism from members of his own party on a trio of foreign policy issues: Democrats’ impeachment probe focused on Ukraine, his decision to pull troops out of Syria and his announcement that the next Group of Seven conference would be held at his Doral golf resort in Florida.

On the first two, Trump has remained defiant. On the third, the president on Saturday made the rare move of reversing course in response to outcry — both public and private — from some of the same Republicans who have typically defended him.

The GOP opposition came from multiple fronts.

On Fox News, the president’s go-to news outlet, legal analysts, including former Judge Andrew Napolitano, charged the president with flagrant violations of the constitutional ban on accepting foreign gifts.

Those criticisms were echoed by a handful of centrist Republicans who voiced public concerns that the Doral decision, if not illegal, created unflattering perceptions that the president was using the office to boost his business interests.

Privately, a group of moderate Republican lawmakers, including Reps. Fred Upton (Mich.) and Pete King (N.Y.), huddled with Mick Mulvaney at Camp David over the weekend, warning Trump’s acting chief of staff of the poor optics and potential political backlash of hosting the meeting at the Trump resort.

Other GOP lawmakers texted and called White House officials to object to the move, sources said.

He's got to be bit worried after new reality of GOP pressure on him that allegedly forced him to cancel G7 at his hotel yesterday and reports of Senate chairman giving presentation on impeachment in closed door meeting/ Romney indicating his pro MAGA removal stance.

Timing is bad as his former party mates like Pelosi and Schumer/NBC also seem to be not very happy with him lately although he still may get strong support from some Dem quarters considering his almost blindly strong support for Israel since coming to White House. He's played very smart 3D chess, won't be easy to isolate him even if some in GOP jumped ship.

Pelosi and Schumer seem to not be happy with Trump?

Not sure if you're delusional or what because Pelosi and Schumer hate Trump and have for years now.

Trump has nothing to do worry about, he gets criticism from his own party but they all fall in line when it counts as they know what will happen if they don't, most never trump GOPers are gone. There will be no impeachment.

Even Ron Paul knows its a charade but you keep playing along like a useful idiot, parroting the DEM talking points 1:1.

The man keeps us informed of both what's really happening and what narrative is being sold. He does it well, and keeps his tongue in his cheek while doing it.

Everything he says does not really need to be punctuated with various silly accusations and a Partisan Talking Point ©, does it?

Not sure if it's just over emotionality or something else but quite a few MAGA's supporters have displayed a tendency to try and turn different political opinions into personal haggling. At least try to learn something from the great leader's style, looking at his incredible cool calm genuine-alpha temprament.

As for Pelosi/Dems-MAGA relations, they have been chums for quite a while and not surprising given MAGA's record of decades as a NYC RINO liberal progressive socialist with quite a few common causes with Dems going beyond social liberal issues, abortion, gay weddings, LGBTQ rights, protectionism, universal healthcare, gun control, diversity is our strength etc.

Please do tell me anything I said that was actually wrong?

I'll even repeat it for you in simple terms so you don't change the subject/ignore like everyone else does.

-Trump doesn't have to worry about the GOP abandoning him
-Trump isn't getting impeached
-Ron Paul knows its a charade
-E_D parrots Dem talking points on RPF

At this point you're just being dumb for the sake of being dumb. Unhappy because I called out your buddy and not even adding anything to this thread, which is about Trump "urging" the GOP to back him.

I disputed E_D's point and all you did was what? nothing... Gave you the opportunity to dispute any points I made and well...we know the rest.

I adamantly said they've hated him for years, was that incorrect? 2016-2019, is that one year or maybe...years? I'm sure if I tried hard enough, I could find one former McCain fan on RPF, doesn't it mean they still feel the same.

MAGA supporters can definitely try to emulate Trump, its annoying, I don't like it either unless its out of sarcasm.

Does not take away from the fact you are parroting nearly every MSM talking point wherever the news cycle takes you. Rachael Maddow rely on people like you to play your part in the narrative and you comply oh so willingly.

Ron Paul is telling you its a complete charade and yet you still play the role of useful idiot repeating the fake news talking points word for word.

The globalists/Leftists and their lap barking dogs News Media want Trump gone and removed no matter how they just do. Then the leftists will impose all of their beloved leftists polices and agenda including by opening the borders by punishing the southern states by flooding them with migrants and of course Democrats imposing Carbon taxes.

Quick quiz on the U.S. Constitution: If Trump is impeached and removed from office, what Democrat replaces him?

Walk a mile in his moccasins, hard to know who to trust in the swamp. He is not infallible. I don't think any one could do this job without mistakes being made.

It is good that Trump has his Twitter account so he can circumvent the MSM/Communist outright lies and run with them with absolutely no proof. Just like they ran with the lie he was strong -arming the Ukrainian President for information on Joe Biden.

I think Trump needs the people behind him if he is to not be impeached. The GOP has a bunch of bad actors and I would like to see them gone along with bad actors from the democrats.

I found this out not long ago that Nixon was looking for a very specific thing when he did his water gate thing. He was after a blackmail list I believe Hillary was h=able to get her hands on it and this is why we are in the deep do doo we are in right now. Too many people on the list are still in office....I don't know about the rest of you but I don't want a bunch of perves in office who are being blackmailed to do Hillary's bidding. I am all for term limits for the house and the senate with no pension plans or extravagant benefits package. Certain individuals have way too much power over every aspect of our lives it ain't right....

Its just sad when I knew you were going to ignore me simplifying those points for you and you went ahead and did exactly what I said you would.

Also I am not the only saying impeachment is a charade, Ron Paul is saying impeachment is fake and CIA very likely behind it.

Its just so amazing how many here are so obsessed with "orange man bad" that they can't even see something even when Ron Paul is telling you to look at it.
