"I earned my spurs on the battlefield ... Donald Trump earned his spurs in a letter from a doctor," Mattis joked at one point, in a reference to the medical deferment for bone spurs that kept Mr. Trump from serving in the military during the Vietnam War.At another point, Mattis responded to reports that Mr. Trump called him "the world's most overrated general" during a meeting with Democrats earlier this week. Mattis joked that he felt like he had "achieved greatness," because he was "not just an overrated general, I am the greatest, the world's most overrated."

But he wasn't a 'loser' last year when MAGA picked him to be member of his cabinet, right?

Until then, he was known mostly for his service to America and for leading US Marines.

There are lots of losers in his administration. And they did not become losers when they got out of his admin, they were losers then and they are losers now. I think the plan was for him to surround himself with losers and then neutralize them from the inside. Not sure how the strategy is wrking out for him.

I would have tried everything in my power to get out of Vietnam as well. Good for Trump.

It has never been proven that Trump wasn't legitimately disqualified, the left just wants you to assume it because they imply it.

Even if he wasn’t, I would have done anything I could to get out of a warmongering war like Vietnam.
