Trump Appointee Gorsuch Cryptic In LGBTQ Employment Rights Case

Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who replaced Kennedy, asked only one question during two hours of argument Tuesday. Instead, it was Justice Neil Gorsuch, the other Trump appointee, who was the focal point.
Gorsuch, an adamant advocate for reading the text of a statute literally, admitted to a bit of a conundrum. Addressing ACLU lawyer David Cole, he said, "Assume for the moment ... I'm with you on the textual evidence," but "it's close ... very close." The words of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act bar employment discrimination "because of sex," or "based on sex."
Gorsuch seemed to be agreeing that language would appear to cover gay and transgender employees. But, he then asked whether a justice should "take into consideration the massive social upheaval that would" ensue from such a decision. Wouldn't it be better to let Congress do it?

Daniels opens his piece with the story of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who was attacked last week for appearing in a Focus on the Family (FotF) video encouraging children to carry Bibles to school. It didn’t matter that Brees had previously appeared in anti-bullying ads in support of the sexual devolutionaries; that FotF embraces the Christianity-spread, Truth-based conception of marriage and sexuality meant that, in their eyes, Brees was no longer the bee’s knees.
Thus did the sexual devolutionaries sack Brees, and thus did Brees — concerned about making his next $10 million, like so many wealthy people — give up the ball, saying he didn’t actually support the organization he did a video for.

(CNN)On Sunday at the Dallas Cowboys-Green Bay Packers game, the TV cameras panned up to the owner's box, where it caught a glimpse (https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/08/entertainment/ellen-degeneres-george-bush/index.html) of comedian Ellen DeGeneres sitting next to former President George W. Bush.

Which, on its face, seemed like an, uh, unlikely pair. DeGeneres is a prominent liberal, and gay. Bush is a former two-term Republican president and an unapologetic conservative. And the image of DeGeneres and Bush set social media aflame as liberals blasted her for cozying up to Bush, someone who opposed gay marriage as president and who entered the US into a war with Iraq and Afghanistan under the later-disproven belief that they possessed weapons of mass destruction.
